2003 ford lightning

Post by uh_track »

I have an 03 lighting with a 6lb lower pulley, intake, exhaust, i am running the predator 6lb tune i put down 395 hp and 490 tq on a really hot day, during the dyno i data logged the maf volts and it hit 4.88 so i ordered a mafia. i have now recieved the mafia but am unsure as to what i should do with it. what setting should i put it on and do i need to get a dyno tune once it is installed. i am really cautious now because the temp is in the 50's now.

Yes, you will need a new custom tune done on the dyno to take advantage of the Mafia, as the entire tune must be scaled.

What's the difference between the response we get with aftermarket MAFs on the Lightnings and GTOs? I have owned 2 Lightnings and 2 GTOs - kept swapping between the two (long story), glad they stopped making the darn things so I could stop trading. The Lightnings ran great with the MAFS and the little Devil plugged into the ECM port and never once set a lean code and you know those suckers got PLENTY of air. Just as soon as I started the 04 GTO with the LS1 and the 06 GTO with the bodacious LS2 with aftermarket MAFS they immediately started throwing lean codes on both banks and the fuel trims are all over the place. Inquiring minds want to know, could it be some demonic prediction of a future bankruptcy? Thanks in advance. (Currently in an 06 Pontiac GTO w/U7191 Predator, 9r07)

Totally different worlds when talking about GM and Ford MAFs.
GMs are a frequency output and Ford uses Voltage. The stock MAFs generally rule however, we like the Lightning MAF on most Ford applications, and the stock GM MAFs are top notch.
