Gonna be supporting the 2.0T Equinox?

Post by Mike_Levy »

Gonna be moving down to Cypress Gardens next month (about 75 miles south of you) and considering getting rid of the Bimmer to lower my payments. I was looking at the 2018 Equinox Premier 2.0T, but come on, 252hp ain't gonna cut it. Are you guys gonna be releasing a tune for this motor?

Wow, been wondering what happened to you lately ;)

Unfortunately the 2.0T and 1.4T stuff is not selling that well, mainly because the cars they are putting them in are lame or don't sell.
I dont see that getting on the list unfortunately.

Thats okay, because I really can't see myself buying one unless I have zero other choice. Gotta find something else I can bury $10k in negative equity in. Maybe an Explorer Sport or something.

Explorer sport is actually pretty sweet.
One of our guys got one for his wife/family hauler, and its a beast with our 93 tune.
We pick up an easy 70 awhp on the 3.5....

Explorer Sport was a bust. Weird seating position due to the tight footwell. Stupid front drive chassis. Tried the F150, but it won't fit in my garage. Cheap decent domestics are hard to find. Maybe a Durango R/T?

TrackHawk is $100k. Not a snowballs chance in hell. I'd get another X5M before I'd get a TrackHawk. SRT Durango intrigues me, but I think the leases are going to be higher than I want to be.

This would be so much easier if the Charger Hellcat wouldn't double my insurance. They're leasing dirt cheap.

Have you seen the 2018 R/T? It looks just like the SRT.

Thats unfortunate. Trifecta is getting like 50hp, 50ft/lbs from the 2.0T. And considering the car market as a whole is in the toilet, they're not going to have much of a choice in the near future. Small displacement turbo SUVs are whats selling.

I'd been told that the company had been going downhill since Holley bought them out. I see now that it's true. Holley is so stuck in the 70's with their thumbs up their butts that nothing but V8s will do, even when turbo 4s and 6s are blowing them away at the strip.

for starters, ummm, we've tested some tri stuff....more often we see 0 Hp as opposed to what they claim. They were claiming that back when I had my Caddy. We tested one of their tunes that was supposed to make 50 rwhp and it made 5, so :)
We've spent days on the dyno with our 16 2.0T Camaro and GM turned them up to the point that gains are all but minimal, especially for a turbo application.

As for Holley, they have very little to do with what we do. We make good money for them and as a result, they tend to let us do our thing ;)

Problem is, V8 stuff is what sells, period. ATS/CTS sales never caught wind. Sonic/Cruze/Trax/Encore was even worse. People just dont see them as vehicles they want to tune unfortunately.

If downhill means increased sales, increased profits, more market share, more people, and the release of dozens of new products, then yup, its all been downhill :)

Okay, whatever. I picked up a Lightning beater, which is supported, so I don’t really care anymore.
