Mike...I was looking to get a custom tune from you. I have heard great things about your custom tunes. I have a SLP7199, software rev. 2.06 for a 2004 GTO. If i have my tuner updated will i be able to datalog and copy tunes to and from the tuner to do this or am i better off getting a new tuner?

Hey there...

the custom tuning is done by me... Lew... mike's the other guy

afterall, it's called a DiabLew Tune, not a DiabMike tune.. HAHAHAHAA!!!! I crack myself up..

anyway, yes, get it upgraded so that you can data log and be able to use the dsdownloader program to import/export tune files in the new, better tune format...

Are their any changes in the upgraded configs that would might help with mpg?
Right now I have all the power I need and I don't think I need the logging.

So I just purchased U7192 on ebay for my 2007 silverado older body style with the 4.8 liter, and it appears that it was originally purchased 1.5 years ago. Will I still be able to gain some pretty decent performance gains with this programmer as is, and upgrade it later? Thanks.

if it was originally bought only 1.5 years ago brand new, then it should be a newer version tool already...

what is the revision number on it? power it up and when it gets to the main menu, the revision number is at the top of the screen... what is it??

it should be a 9rxx number if it's the new model tool....

So I just received my predator that I order off ebay and here is all the info I could find. I do believe it is an older unit. If so can I still use it at all?

BIOS Version: 6.01
Software Rev: 2.05
Hardware Rev: 1.01
Mtg Date : 9/02
Serial # 005272
Tool ID 4C682240D58BAA6B
Any info would be great... Can I use it to install a tune as is, or do I have to have it updated???

yeah, that's an old one... revision 2.05....

look under options - last tune written... see what it says... hopefully it says "original backup"...

need to make sure the guy unlocked/reset it by restoring the original backup stock tune to his vehicle first...

if it is unlocked, then yes, you can use it as is... but you'd do yourself good to get it updated, so that it would be a new tool, have the latest features, and have newer/better preset tunes in it...

but yes, you can use it as is right now... as long as it's unlocked from the other guys vehicle, heh...

Well when I look under I believe it is tool status it says unlocked, but when I plug it in and go to "tune" I go through the process, and it tells me to turn the ignition on and it says it is starting the back up, but I get an error saying something like back up failed... and it won't go any further.

But if it says unlocked, I might as well just send it in for the upgrade. If I send it in for the $99 upgrade it would be just like I bought a brand new tool correct?

That's probably the way to go, rather than even messing with the old hardware, and software. How long does it usualy take from start to finish? Also is there any way to get a new window decal, I bought my tool from ebay and it did not have the sticker in the box, and I would really like to put the decal on my truck... 8)
