Will not complete firmware update *SOLVED*
Predator U7198 was on version 9r17. I try to update to 9r18, but it gets halfway through and says Download Failed Transmission Failed. The tool says The application is missing or corrupt.
I have followed the instructions on the Connection Test tab. I turned off autoconnect and retried several times.
What am I missing?

Re: Will not complete firmware update
I went back to the Downloads page, and I see now that I should have used the downloader utility at the top of the page. For some reason, I scrolled down and chose the one for "older" Predators.
I'll try that this evening when I get home, and report back. I'm quite sure that is where I went wrong.

Re: Will not complete firmware update
Skip that. I'm confusing downloader with interface.
I installed the downloader that was on the disc that came with the unit.
I installed the interface from the site. The file was called :
"DiabloSport Predator USB Driver Installer
This driver is for use with USB to serial cables for the older Predator models
Updated: 2015-04-15
Version: 1.0.1.3"

Re: Will not complete firmware update
yeah, no need to update it if it was working fine.. predator's are all dead and gone anyway, all discontinued about 6 years ago now.. if 9r17 was working fine, no reason to update it..

Re: Will not complete firmware update
I just bought it used. Just figured it would be best to update it to the latest before using it.
I would LOVE to have bought an i2, but the cost is out of my budget.
The main thing I need is to calibrate for lower gears and larger tires. I also have a very free flowing exhaust and cold air intake.
You see, I took a perfectly good 2000 Z71 with 5.3 / automatic and stuffed the driveline, electronics, a/c, heater, brakes, etc into a '86 Nissan Hardbody pickup. It was a low-budget project, because I am a poor country boy.
It took me three months to free up the $215 I spent on the Predator. But it will be worth it if it gets me a little more MPG and fixes the 17% error of the speedometer.
It's not a redneck tire burner, either. It is my DD and overland rig. Here's the build thread. http://reserector.com/Thread-2015-The-y ... nto-the-FM

Re: Will not complete firmware update
I tried that .crom and it failed the same way.
Tried it on two different PCs,
Tried several combinations of settings such as legacy connect, different baud rate, and so on. The progress bar got close to the end a couple times, but then failed.
What is the next step?
I wonder, could it be the cable? Here is the one that came with it. Does it look right? One concern is that the screws do not reach the port, so it does not attach. It does plug in all the way, though.

Re: Will not complete firmware update
What time zone are you in? What hours are you available?
Never mind. I see your hours are 9 to 6 EST.
I'm in central. I work 7 to 4:30, and don't get home until 6.
Our computers at work are behind a firewall. I am cleared to use gotomeeting.com.
I will try to set it up here at work. Otherwise I will have to wait for a day off.

Re: Will not complete firmware update
My son has it set up on his computer, and he called 561-908-0040 on Friday, after school. He said he was still moving up in the queue, even after hours. He made it to first in queue, so he hung in there like a trooper, but after five hours of being on hold, he gave up.
He let me hear the hold "music". Have you ever listened to it?
He tried again today after school, and he got a recording that said the line was overloaded, and it hung up automatically.
So is there a "good" time to call? Is that the correct number? Is there some other way?

Re: Will not complete firmware update
He got through today. I just check with him via text. He said y'all sent him a crom, and told him to try it. And that if it didn't work, email you or go to the forums.
It didn't work. He will email. I am here on the forums.
What would prevent it from loading the whole crom before stopping? Is my Diablo a brick, now?
