rev. 9r12 bricked my u7186 - help please.
2007 LBZ
Was running v9r11 (which is not listed on the download section now) decided to update to 9r12 - connected fine, completed writing the 8,202 packets for the update and sat there at "Please wait for tool to reboot" for over 20 minutes the tuner was stuck at the "Installing bootloader" screen. I power cycled it and now get the error "CROM u7186-v.9r12 incompatible hardware.(no serial flash found). Contact Tech support"
I have done this three times now with the same results.
part number on the back of the predator was place in such a poor location all the info is worn off of it - can barely make out 2006 GM Duramax and part of a bar code.
Tool info give a serial number of 7f00fdaa
and a model number of u7186
If this is a problem with 9r12 can you post 9r11 here so I can go back?
Thanks

Yeah if you have older hardware tools the 9r12 will not work.

What do you mean it will not let you back up?
If you use the Legacy connect instructions, you should have no problem sending it to the tool.

It will not let me backup to a previous firmware. This is also my first time to program a tool. I may be doing something wrong. The version i have now tried is U7186 dmx lly lbz 9t13d 775.crom. When i try to back up to a version before 9r12 it says it will not load a previous version or something along those lines. I need this fixed some how some way.
With the version on the tool now it says wrong strategy when i try to program the truck.

Thanks for the download. 9r11 worked fine in my customers tool. Like so many others on here I tried upgrading to the 9r12 before reading the forums.... The same thing happened to me with a 7170 several years back and its still sitting here on the shelf, I havent ever gotten around to sending it into DS.
Update: The 9r11 did not work in the truck. It would crank up and shut off within 1 sec. Updating to 9t13d... we'll see how that one works.

I have a couple of questions though. Is the 9r11 you posted here in metric only (like the last one I had)? Also, with 9r11 I was having a difficult time calibrating the speedo - the settings in the tuner appear to be way off. I am running 265's and if I choose that tire size in the tuner my speedo is off by 4 mph - getting some great fuel economy though
Ended up setting the tire size to 243's to get the speedo dead on.....and no more 19.4 mpg running back and forth to work.

On the U7186, you should also have a selection to enter the tire size by height, in inches. Measuring the actual height with a tape measure and entering that figure is the most accurate, as tires are rarely the exact dimensions the manufacturers say they are.

Will do. What about the metric part of my question? All the data logging is done in metric - I have to convert everything.j.mike@diablosport wrote:On the U7186, you should also have a selection to enter the tire size by height, in inches. The Predator can only display then information the way GM configured the units of measure.
