if it the same type of vehicle there is a possibility you will be able to. the tool does not have to be married to a specific car to do diagnostics.

now thats the best news i've had all day Thanks
one quick one can you just use it as diagnostic tool or does it have to married before it can be used. can i just plug it in and run diagnostic . i have not hooked it up yet. so in the following the instructions
1.plug in the predator
2.the first screen you will see is the start up screen with the name of the vehicle the predator supports
3.performance tune should be three choices Performance Tune____Diagnostics_______ Options

so i can just click on the Diagnostics and run it , also will i be able to download and print off on my pc the Diagnostics report like balance rates etc

thanks i love the quick replie

you can use it for diagnostics on any 01-05 duramax and most similar year gas vehicles, married or not :)

No printing off reports, you can view the data in real time, or upload it to a PC, or live stream it to a PC in the truck.

ok the people are telling me that the preadtor will not give me accurate balance rates or the correct cylinder of the rate as some readouts go by firing order instead of cylinder #.
here are my rates
1 -6.992 -6.992 -6.992 mm3/s
2 -6.992 -6.992 -6.992
3 -6.992 -6.992 -6.992
4 -6.024 -6.586 -6.024
5 -6.164 -6.680 -6.992
6 -6.992 -6.992 -6.992
7 15.01 15.01 15.01
8 1.117 0.8672 1.117
desired rail presure 4300.8 psi
injection timing 5.002 degrees

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP
sorry to keep asking

those are pretty high numbers, on our 06 LLY I see balance rates of -2 to +2%.

Was this fully warmed up?

To be honest though, I am no diesel diagnostic expert, let me see if I can find out what this is telling us ;)

The balance rate adjustments are utilized by the ECM only at idle. The balance rates are the fuel adjustments for each individual cylinder based on the variations in engine crankshaft speed. A positive value indicates that fuel is being added to each cylinder event, such as with poor engine compression or a fuel injector that is not flowing enough fuel. A negative value indicates fuel being removed from each cylinder event, such as a fuel injector that is flowing too much fuel. The balance rates will change depending on if the transmission is in Neutral or Drive.

The Test procedures in steps:
1. Start and run the engine until the engine coolant temperature (ECT) is more than 82°C (180°F).
2. Turn OFF all accessories.
3. Hold the brake pedal in the fully applied position. A hiss will be noticeable when the brake is fully applied.
4. Place the transmission in Drive.
5. Idle the engine for more than 30 seconds.
6. Record the Balancing Rate Cyl.1–8 parameters from the predator or trinity tool while the engine is at idle speed.
7. Repeat steps 2–6 with the transmission in Neutral.

Are all of the Balancing Rate parameters within the first specified range in Drive, and the second specified range in Neutral?

Drive: −6 mm³ and +6 mm³

Neutral: −4 mm³ and +4 mm³

Hope this helps out a little and gives a better understanding.
