2008 U7186 9r15 tune wont install

Post by fastmatt007 »

I have a 2008 LMM Chevy. When I first purchased the predator "BRAND NEW from summit racing" I had to update the predator to the most recent update which I did. I was able to install the 60 horse power tune. It took about 4 attempts as it kept popping up errors. On the truck panel it said trailer brake service and 4wheel drive service. Then when it failed to install the 40 hp it tried multipel times to go back to stock. When the tune failed to install it gave error ECM: error unlock for reflash (-1). This is the error it gave installing a tune. It saved my original ok. I had to attempt once again multiple times just to get it back to stock. I am not sure why it wont install any tunes. The only modifiction on my truck is KNN intake.

Did you pull the 3 fuses from under the hood and keep your doors shut?

Doors were shut, but I didnt pull any fuses. I downloaded the manual and will try it again when I get home. What does pulling those fuses do? I have a predator for my mustang and I didnt have to do anything. It never failed to install a tune for that. By not pulling the fuses would this seriously cause it to fail to install? Why is it I am sometimes able to install a tune then others I am not?

should not need to pull fuses, but it is not a bad idea.

if not, give us a call with the tool in the truck and we'll try to get it going.

My friend had trouble loading a tune the first time until he removed radio, radio amp and info fuses. His was an 07 not an 08. Worth a try, may prevent voltage interference.

MikeL So I tried installing the tune again and it errored out. It was able to save the original tune then when it tried to install the custom/predator tune it popped up the service trailor break system and basically said failed to install tune then gave me the ECM locked issue. I had to attempt about 4 times to get it to restore it back to stock. I am not able to call in as I work the exact hours you are open and closed. Could you advise what I could do here/attempt to fix my problem?

VIN I checked the fused box I was only able to find the radio fuse. I didnt see anythign with radio ampl/info fuses from the fuse box grid inside the lid.

Its with any of the tunes. I tried the 100/80/60/40 all to the same error. Again I was able to get it to work in the past but I had to try a few times before the tune would install. If I need to provide additional information of any sorts let me know.

thanks for being prompt.

I tried installing the tune once again this time tried installing 60/65 HP tune it worked the first time. I am wondering if it has something to do with the 80/100 hp tunes that wont work. I havnt tried installing the TOW TUNE lately.

I will have my original back up loaded sometime next out of town for work :(.

Any ideas otherwise what may be going on? Only have a K&N for aftermarket parts. Everything else stock.
