Predator U7185 Unable To Connect

Post by tba02 »

Vehicle - 2005 Duramax LLY, ECM ID 15228758
Predator u7185, Software Rev. 2.02, Hardware Rev. 1.01

The Predator powers up but cannot connect to the ECM ('Is Ignition On ?' message after selecting A/T).
The truck is basically stock (a couple of lighting additions), I have pulled all the recommended fuses, disconnected the brake controller etc. Battery Voltage is good.

I can connect to the ECM and get data via an ELM327 Blue Tooth Dongle and the Torque app.
Outside of "sending in the 'old hardware' do you have anything else I can try.

I am wishing to just calibrate the speedometer at this point.

Thoughts or suggestions? Is there an additional fuse/power draw I might be missing (I have tried pulling those referenced in the manual for the LB7 as well)? Is there something device related that can be adjusted?

Thanks

Negative, it won't connect under any menu. No VIN, ID's or Diagnostic.
I pulled the ID using Torque.

tough to say, but sounds like there is something up with the tool, could be the cable, board itself, not sure...

So, let me ask ....
Can send it in and still receive a credit towards an InTune/Trinity due to the unknown nature of the problem (as I am guessing these are just recycled)?
I will assume yes.

If that is the case, would I jeopardize that option if I were to open the unit to check for a loose wire and/or do a continuity check?

Obviously, if the board is bad there is not much I can do, but continuity check would tell me if I had a broken wire in the sheathing and get my tire size calibrated while I save for a newer unit.

Thanks,

yes, core credit is an option.

Ideally, just checking it out will be $99 + shipping (out of warranty repairs).....
