AEM 30-4110 Wideband

Post by BlackHorse »

I have that wideband in my 2010 RT. The gauge is reading great, about 14.7-15 during idle, 12.4-12.8 during WOT, shuts down when off the throttle. My issue is hooking it up to my Trinity for data logging. Diablo, I found a pretty good wiring instruction on your forum, between that and the instruction from AEM, I'm pretty sure everything is wired up correctly. I have the gauge wired in to the 12V keyed cig lighter and grounded separately to the chassis, not the ground for the keyed cig lighter. The Digikey's 2.5mm plug from the T1000 is wired this way.....red (signal 1 output) to white wire to gauge, ground to the same ground as the gauge, black is not used, it's signal 2. I followed Speedygarage's youtube video on how to calibrate the Trinity. I see a 4.35 volt reading on warm-up. The range is 10.0 the AEM reads 9.98 at 0 volts and 19.98 at 5 volts.

19.98-9.98=10
10/4.35=2.299 AFR/volt
5 volts expected x 2.299=11.494 (new range)
9.98+11.494=21.474 (new upper)

The gauge is still reading right on but the Trinity is reading way high with the new upper (lower bound does not change) like 17.5 to the gauge's 12.8. AEM suggests to use 9.98 for the lower and 18.5 for the upper. I've tried those settings and although it reads much more closely to the gauge during idle it does not read correct for WOT.

Will you please help?

any one?????

Should I try grounding to the black wire on the 12v keyed cig lighter? Maybe just straight to the negative battery terminal in the trunk?

Thanks for the links but nothing I read or watch seems to help. Believe me, I have read a lot of fourm's about this and have post out there to DiabloSport, ChallengerTalk, AEM Electronics, and ChallengerForumz.

So I ran all the grounds to the negative battery terminal in the trunk. I couldn't get the DigiKey cable to wok right so I ordered the DS analog plug, in hopes it was the plug. Well that seems to be a waste of cash as this didn't do the trick. I have everything wired up correctly and the Trinity still does not frigin' read right. What the heck am I missing here? I'm guessing it is in the upper bound number. I was adjusting it some today after I wired up the DS analog plug. The closest I could get the Trinity to match the AEM 30-4110, at idle, was to use 9.98 for the lower and 16.567 for the upper bound. This is not right though. They were really close during idle at this upper setting but the Trinity did not drop below 14.54, as seen on a log, at WOT, whereas the gauge showed the correct AFR of about 11.4 (it's hard to watch the gauge, the Trinity, and the road all at the same time). I recorded Analog Input 1 Volts in the same log and saw a minimum of 3.460 volts and a maximum of 5 volts. Everywhere I've read says to set the upper around 19.3-19.7. Again, I'm seeing about 4.5-4.7 volts on warm-up of the sensor. When I used the suggested 19.3 for the upper, the Trinity showed a 16.4 AFR, no where close to what the gauge was showing.

I really would like to get this figured out so I can record accurate run logs for my tuner.

have v.1r13k on my T1000, if that matters any.

I am not sure what to suggest, the tool doesnt do anything but interpret the data it is getting from the 0-5V reference, so its up to what you enter to make it read what you expect.

I hear you. I expect the Trinity to read what the gauge is showing since it's accurate but that's not happening at the moment.

Same issue with difference in the displayed AFR value and the analog value on an intune log. It would be nice to have definitive low and high values to enter during setup in the intune for a specific wideband AFR like the AEM
modell.

definitive values would come from the manufacturer of the device.

What the tool displays is super simple and easy to test if you log the voltage as well. its 100% linear, you can graph the output easily.

Every WB I have ever come across that has a 0-5V output has that data provided by the manufacturer.
I do recall that when we first released this stuff, some of the hardcore guys (mostly srt4 :)) were doing lots of testing with scaling and in many cases came up with their own scaling for some popular sensors that they felt worked better than what the provided data showed.
