Keeps telling me to update

I recently received a T1000. I have a 2017 GMC sierra with the 6.2. I plugged it in and it told me I needed to update. I downloaded the software and completed the update process. Now that I plug it back into my truck, it gives me the same error. It will give me the VIN and calibration ids. Any ideas?

what is the message exactly?
cant hurt to update with dsdl one more time and then try tuning it again.

you need to set the transmission type to manual, since the 8 speed tranny is not supported and can not be tuned.. you can only tune the engine..

once you do that, you should stop getting the message about a controller needing an update...
