Rec90 gas on 91 octane tune

Post by damien4208 »

I was wondering if I use rec90 gas, could I run the 91 octane tune on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi?
I have a K&N intake, flowmaster exhaust and bored throttle body....
Not too many gas stations sell 91 octane around me....Mainly 87,89 and 93.
Thanks for your time and any/all help, info, suggestions, etc.

tough to say you may need to log it to see how it likes it, or stick with 93 and 93 tune ;)

Could you elaborate on what you mean and how I'd go about doing this? Thanks.

you may need to log the knock sensor activity to see if the 91 tune likes the 90 octane fuel. Generally running less octane then the tune is designed for will result in knock.

Oh I gotcha.
Gonna have to price out with recreational 90 gas costs per gallon and compare it to 93 octane, might just do what ya said and run 93 with the tune....
