I3 udpate and tune issues
Issues
1) The main thing I need the tuner for is to disable MDS. The tool doesn’t make it obvious that MDS was actually disabled. How can I confirm 100% that it is? The ECO light still comes on when driving after I think I have it disabled. I wouldn’t second guess this device but I have a list of odd things that are happening…see 2-5.
2) Seems to be in an update loop, I update with the ignition tool, then hook it to my truck and the tuner goes to checking/installing updates. I waited for over an hour with it connected to the truck and it did nothing. I hooked it back up to my PC and looks to install the same update it just said it completed. This has happened several times
3) Ignition updater sometimes says “Interrogating Device” when connected to the PC. Left this way overnight and never completed or changed screens.
4) 50 RPM increase does nothing, 100 RPM increase causes about a 500RPM increase
5) Device freezes when trying to record PIDs, it is not responsive after the record button is pressed
6) After the last tune where I restored to factory, the outside temp gauge says 108F

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
1. ECO is not MDS. To see if MDS is off, go to the param menu and there should be an * next to MDS.
2. Looking into this, but no need to update more than once.
3. Not sure about that, had the USB drive appeared on the pc?
4. What are you adjusting here? Idle speed, rev limit, shift point?
5. Do you just get a blank screen with no pids?
Thanks

-I am adjusting idle speed
5. Do you just get a blank screen with no pids?
-The tuner just stays on the screen that has record, add, delete, restore PIDs. It is non responsive and has to be disconnected are rebooted. I also noticed that if add more that about 8 PIDs is when it hangs. So have to delete from the default list to add.

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
Tonight I set the tune to decrease RPM by 50 and it increased from 700 to around 1100.
When trying to log PIDs, I add certain PIDs, and half the time the tuner freezes up and the other half it never logs all the PIDs I added.
I have had nothing but trouble with this Intune i3 from day one.
How am I suppose to trust a tool that changes the software on your vehicle when its own software has lots of bugs? What does it take to get a refund?

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
you can contact whoever you purchased it from to return it for a refund.
If you'd like, load the modify stock tune and adjust it the way you have been and post the tune here so I can see whats happening.
Thanks

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
once I get the truck back from the shop I can post the info file.
Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
here is the current tune on the truck. it is a custom tune on a stock engine. I had lifter and cam replaced, the shop installed the stock cam for the vehicle but recommended all non mds hellcat lifters. after the repair I am getting misfires at idle on mds cylinders using the stock tune with mds disabled. the misfires go away with the custom tune. Can you tell me that mds is disables what they all changed with the custom tune vs the stock tune?

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
Also, when I try to log certain parameters, they show up during the log on the tuner but when I save the log and go to look at it with the viewer software, the parameters do not show up as logged data? I am tying to monitor SFTF and LTFT.
Also, still having the idle setting not working correctly. I adjust 50 RPMs down, tune, and the RPM has jumped 400-500 RPM.

i need to see the tunes to confirm that.heinz57 wrote:here is the current tune on the truck. it is a custom tune on a stock engine. I dont see why you'd have misfires with a stock cam unless there was an install issue....

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
Here are the tune files from the i3, can you tell me what they changed?
Has there been a solution to the adding parameters for data logging and the tuner freezing up?

Hi mikel, I'm still looking for help with what was changed in the stock tune. The files are attached to the previous post.mikel wrote:i need to see the tunes to confirm that.heinz57 wrote:here is the current tune on the truck. it is a custom tune on a stock engine. Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
the custom tune has the misfire threshold raised like you would do with a custom cam.
It also has MDS disabled. Are you sure its a stock cam???

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
Mikel, Can you elaborate on what that means? The shop that did the repair told me they put in the stock cam (MDS, VVT) for my 2010 ram 1500 5.7L PN (53022263AF) and all non mds "hellcat" lifters. They recommended the "hellcat" lifters because of bigger bearings.
The shop that did my repair doesn't think that the issue is caused by the MDS cam and Non MDS lifter combination. I am questioning why dodge specs MDS and non MDS cams if it supposedly doesn't matter which lifters are used???
I am not the only person I have found that has the same issue, used the stock cam and installed non mds lifters. Then get rough and misfires at idle.

Re: I3 udpate and tune issues
I dont know what that would be the case.
A stock cam should not misfire at all, MDS or not, so from where I am sitting it sounds like an install issue....
