Surging issues 2012 F150 3.5 4000rpm-5500rpm 45+mph 87oct

Post by sethrocon »

THIS ISSUE IS SOLVED! See my other post in this forum.

Hello

I'm experiencing what feels like little surges of power from the truck after about 45mph full throttle acceleration. Mini surges on the 87 octane program. I was experiencing misfires with the stock plugs so I put in 0.032" gaped NGK Iridium plugs and the truck came to life, no more misfires. Now at the top end it seems to be surging. Replaced the turbos about 5000km's ago, checked the EGR/PCV system and everything seems fine, no leaks.

Should I clean all the MAP/AF sensors?

What are your thoughts?

SOLVED!!

So I have an update. My engine started misfiring on cylinder 1 on stock tune. I diagnosed it as a fuel injector because it wasn't the spark plug or the ignition coil.

It was lumpy at idle. Engine running with a mild shake. Not nice but smooth while driving. When flooring it with the stock tune it started mimicking my problem i had with the Diablosport tunes. around 5000+ rpm it start bucking and the RPM needle would randomly loose RPM's for a split second. Lose of power.

I Seafoamed the upper intake manifold 2 times and noticed a small improvement in my idle, but still misfiring. I used a lot of injector cleaner in my tank but it was not helping unclog the injector.

I did some research and bought one of these:(but the cheaper one on Amazon)

I hooked it up and ran 2 cans of Royal Purple Max-Clean Fuel System Cleaner & Stabilizer through it.

right away i noticed the change. No more misfiring AND the truck is running incredibly smooth. I've owned the truck for the last 18,000 miles and it's like i have a new engine.

I flashed the 91 octane tune and topped up my engine (already running 91) and the problem is GONE.

No power loss, smooth raw power now. I can't believe it.

I hope this helps.

i might suggest closing up that gap a little bit, I usually recommend .028-.030

Other than that a log might help here.

Thanks

Here is a log I tried today, should have some hard acceleration in there.

Here are a few more logs running 93 octane gas and program.

The truck does not surge when running stock tune and I cleaned the sensors.
