I found an old thread where some guys were discussing that option but it never materialized. I bet theres an answer out there on one of the eec forums or FB.

Id hit a wrecking yard if possible. A u-pull-it or something, maybe you get lucky and walk out with one for $50 :)

I talked to a salvage yard today. They’re showing that a 1999 regular F150 computer works on the Lightning, though they want the number off my computer to verify. Don’t see how that possible, with the motor and VIN being different, but they only want $35, so I’ll grab it if the codes match. I’m 99.9% sure it’s gonna have to be flashed even if the numbers do match.

yeah, it will need to be flashed, but its a worthwhile test for $35 IMO.

No good. It’s a CUX2, which is unique to to 2000 Lightning. Damn.

so, if it helps....

cux0 was 99 lightning.
cux1 is listed as 99/00 lightning.
cux2 shows 99/00 as well.

Maybe finding a cux0 is a better option.

From what I’m told, all 99-00s we’re supposed to have been updated to a CUX2 under a TSB. Haven’t been able to find the details on why. Still looking. If necessary I can always send my stock one in to be repaired. That’s assuming it’s bad, which I have no way of verifying.

right, they eventually all get flashed to the same cal that cux2 used, but the label will still say cux0 or cux1 in most cases.
Meaning any of the 3 will work for you.

well, I looked some more and found 2 more.
CNX0 and CNX1 both work for 00 Lightning as well.

Okay, time to do some more checking.

I actually just took it out for gas, and it’s running fine. Only issue is that it’s limiting boost to around 5psi, but otherwise, seems good. Even the wideband stays fairly stoich.

not sure what could limit boost. I dont remember, does that blower have an internal bypass?

It has an internal flapper, but the bypass valve is bolted to the side. 01-03s have an electronic bypass solenoid that’s known to limit boost, but that can be changed in the tune. The Lightning forum is telling me the 99-00s don’t have that. I’m wondering, because the valves vacuum line definitely goes to a solenoid. I previously had that solenoid bypassed completely, but the truck was constantly in boost that way with minimal throttle, so I put it back to stock.
