I have a question for those that have put the firm shift into a GMC or Chevy 1500. Does the tune make that much of a difference? Does it fix the confusion in shifts this tranny seems to have at times? I have always hated the way my 8spd shifts from day 1. I am considering trading in my old Intune and upgrading to the I2 and want to know if it's worth it as I would have to get a new custom tune from Lew to go with it. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

you need to run the updater on the intune so it downloads/installs all the latest updates..

then re-tune the truck... as long as it's not a 2017..

Hi Mike, I put a Procharger on my 2016 Corvette 8A and took out the Intune2 programming and had it professionally Dyno tuned. I was wondering If I can still use my Intune2 to adjust the transmission shifts and other parameters like tire size, gear ratio etc. ? What shouldn't I do while adjusting them, not to mess anything up within the custom dyno tune ?
I would like to save the dyno tune into the Intune2 and transfer it to my laptop for fail safe backup , can you run me thru the screen processes to do that ?

No, if you had it tuned with something else I would not recommend using the i2 on top of that on these newer e92 pcms.

I don’t like the NOT AND WON’T BE SUPPORTED COMMENT!!
Maybe I should look into other tuning options
This is only the 4th DIABLO TUNER I HAVE PURCHASED!!
It was bought thinking I would get what I paid for,
If you can’t firm the trans shifts, that really hurts
the attractiveness of the product! This comes from
a 2017 owner. I am very disappointed!!!

Unfortunately this is not some decision we made to limit what we offer, its based on the fact that the T87a TCM in your truck has been locked down/encrypted by GM and is not tuneable the way it site.

No other tuning solution will allow you to tune the TCM here the way it sits.

The only solution involves removing the TCM from the transmission, sending it out and having it modified, then reinstalling it, along with the valvebody, back into the transmission, and then it can be tuned using one of our competitors software, but they dont provide tunes, so you have to figure out how to make the tuning work yourself, which is tricky with the 8 speed calibrations.

I don’t want to hear your competitors comparison. I have used
Diablo because I considered you the “Premier” tuning solution.
Spend more money on R&D, encryption is not
A valid excuse. I am just saying this is BS.

I'm sorry you feel this way.
Encryption is not an excuse, its a valid reason. Again, nobody can do it without physically modifying the TCM.
We think of ourselves as the leaders in what we do, and wish to maintain that place in the industry, but the OEMs are making it increasingly difficult to program their PCMs in the manner that many consumers have become used to.
Chrysler locked up their PCMs in 2015 to the point that we have to open them up and modify them to allow them to work with a tuner. The same holds true for the GM T87a TCM unfortunately, but setting up a program to have end users send in the TCM for modification is simply not feasible, as its part of the valvebody inside the transmission pan.

Hopefully you won;t hold this against us. If there was some feasible means of providing you with tuning for the T87a, we would do it.

Thanks

It seems that it is tunable without modifying it.
According to the information on the gm-trucks forum, there are at least two tuners, how are able to do it. Perhaps you can check it again?
