Brand New i3 says Not Supported when connected to Mac

Post by CommanDOH »

Hi,
I just picked up an i3 Jeep Platinum 8445-1 for my 2013 Jeep JKU Sport. I immediately followed the instructions and attempted to update it on my Mac (MacPro, 2009 running 10.13.6 High Sierra). The software come up and runs, however the moment I connect and boot up the i3 it immediately goes through and puts up a Do not recognize Diable device, Contact support...

Is there a new OSX software version that it needs to update too?

Thanks,
Bob

do you have access to a pc or can you try the wifi update for now?
Looking into why the Mac side is not working.

I did the updates on my Work PC. I can give you the System I'm attaching the MacPro.spx file (System Information File, Zipped up)

Also of Note, I plugged it into my 2013 Jeep JKU and it popped up a Vehicle Unrecognized... I have no aftermarket anything attached to the electrical system, and have never done any tuning to it. Any idea why a brand new i3 Jeep Platinum 8445-1 would kick an error like that?

its asking you to check for an update again for the vehicle itself now, update it then go back to the Jeep and it should let you load the update then load the tunes.

OK, I'll try the update again (came back the last time saying that the calibration was completed already). Then I'll head back to the Jeep to see if it recognizes it..

OK, Looks like I'm all set now as far as the programmer working in the Jeep. I think the instructions need to be more specific when they talk about first approaching the vehicle with the programmer. It needs to call out that when you plug in your Programmer the car needs to be in the OFF position, no key in the ignition. Then wait for it to boot up fully before following the instructions further and turning the key to the On position. I plugged in the programmer and turned the car to On before the programmer made it into the system. Apparently the i3 reads from the computer as the computer comes up when you turn on the car.

That said, I'll try running another update with my Mac this week and see if it's recognized. it still didn't after updating it both via wifi and the PC, before I got the programmer working in the Jeep on Saturday...

Thanks,
Bob

I’m having the same issue with my I3 Platinum for GM. I tried updating the device and it appears to go through but when I’m asked to click yes or no after it asks me if I understand that I can’t use the device while the vehicle is in motion, I click yes and it freezes. I waited for a while and it just won’t do anything. I have to unplug the device to be able to go back to the main screen. Please help.
