180 thermostat needed?

14 challenger rt, auto. Cat back installed and just ordered a legmaker cai. I keep hearing everyone installing a 180 thermostat...is it necessary? This is my daily driver and will be doing no racing. So, I don't really want to if i don't have to. Just want to keep the engine safe.
