U7191, 93 octane tune and ping?

Post by gsp »

I just purchased your U7191 (sw ver 7r97) for my 2006 Chevy SSR. I loaded the 93 octane tune and it runs great but I am noticing some pre-ignition (ping) I run the best gas i can find here in Alabama (BP/Amoco) at 93 octane. Yes, I have always run 93,,,nothing but...

What can I do to fix this problem in the tune?

What gas is better? We have Shell, Chevron, BP, and thats about all of the best known stations???? Which gas is truly 93

amoco is the better fuel of the ones you listed. What else do you have done to your vehicle? You can try to put some more fuel in there to remedy the knock.

how about updating to the latest revision - 8r07... maybe there's a little something different in the tune that would help??

Thanks,

To add fuel:

There are two WOT rpm ranges and when I am in one of these ranges,,, I move the pointer to the right (rich) to add fuel,,,correct???

I have a Magnaflow cat back and a K&N cold air kit:

I did a +10 in low rpm and +15 in high rpm.

Does this sound OK?

the tunes did not change for the ssr's between those revs. 10 an 15% richer sounds like a good start.
