2016 Explorer Sport

Post by DrPepper100 »

I have a 2016 explorer sport and would like to modify it. I previously tuned my 2014 explorer sport and it was great. Is there a projected time of availability for the 2016 tune? Could I use the tune from 2015 edition explorer sport? Thanks.

Do you have a trinity currently? If so plug into vehicle and go to options - troubleshooting - show calibration ID

Tell me what it displays.

Yes I have a Trinity- under calibration it says KJDW2G4.
It lets me install some sort of "modify stock tune" but there are not options for horsepower, fuel economy etc. And to be honest, I couldn't tell a difference when I did install the "stock tune" so I took it off.
Thanks

Well that's all that tune is. Just stock image if you wanted to only adjust parameters with the tool.

If you post your original backup from the tool I will make something for you to try.

To sohfast94. Here is the back from my 2016 explorer sport. I would really appreciate a tune for max horsepower/speed (what else? :D )
Thanks

Here you go. Make sure when you load this and it asks for a second file that you select the file you originally read out being the original backup otherwise it won't load anything to the tool.

Sohfast94. Thanks for working on this. I tried installing it twice and each time I installed it, the car wouldn't start so I had to re-install the factory settings.

It does say that I am installing a Ford Predator tune. Not sure if there is a fix?

Again, I appreciate all your help.

Just wondering if you have had any luck with the custom tune?
Thanks

I am also curious about progress. Today I updated my Intune I1000 and decided to plug it into my 2016 Explorer Sport. I was pleased to see the new availability of MPG, 87, 91 and 93 octane tunes. I tried the 87 Octane tune, and the vehicle failed to start, just cranked away. So close. Back to stock and patiently waiting for another update.

Does it give you any codes with the tune installed?

I don't have it installed anymore so I can't check. However when it was there I didn't see any code and it said it was installed successfully.
Thanks

Need you to install it and then check the dtcs. Also this time install the modify stock tune so I can eliminate the checksums.

How do I get my inTune 1000 to download the performance tunes for my 2016 explorer sport? It just has stock mods available. I had this tuned and associated with my 2013 f150 ecoboost but want to tune my explorer instead.
