Tune that detects octane rating

I have seen several tunes that are able to detect the octane rating so you are not having to switch the tune per the octane. Does someone know if we can get a custom tune that will do this? If not i am interested in getting a custom tune made to fix the issues I am having with the 91 and 93 octane tunes on my diablo I3 platinum throwing my truck into wrench mode when i try to give it a little extra gas. Once i remove the tune everything is good. Thanks for the help!

Huh? The knock sensors will take away timing when they detect knock. You can run 91 octane on a 93 tune no problem, you just get a few degrees less timing.

Thanks for the information on the knock sensors. I ran the same tunes on my 2.7 ecoboost for 60k and no problems. Have a 2020 3.5 and it is thrown into wrench mode multiple times more on the 93 tune than 91.

Honestly i have not checked because it is always on the highway and it limits my speed and shifting once it goes into wrench mode. i just pull off the highway and pull the tune off and put the truck back to stock for a few days and then put the 87 octane tune and it will run fine. I will run the gas tank empty and fill up with 93 and run it and then check the codes next fill up. Do you know anyone that can make a octane detecting tune similar to the one gear head performance has for the SCT tuners?

Today i got a code P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. It did not put the truck in limp mode but it did limit the amount of power on the engine. I had to remove the tune again and restore backup to get it to go away and the engine run correctly again. I am at the point that this tuner does not work very well with the 3.5 ecoboost. It worked great with my 2.7 but not with my 3.5.

Have you by chance checked the plug gaps?
Sometimes closing them up a little to deal with the additional boost will help.
