I recently was pulling my travel trailer (8000 lbs), and used the tow tune. When I reprogrammed the truck using the 65hp tune, the truck was bucking when I going about 65 mph. After pulling over and shutting off the truck for about 5 minutes. It was fine. I get better mpg in the city using the performance and tow tunes. The 65hp is good on the highway. Is there a way I can better tune my 2003 6.0L for towing? I am still waiting for a turbo back exhaust system to run the performance tune.

U7165- Do you need word to open this update or is there another way to get the update? Also how often should a person look for updates?

Just installed and have set on 65hp tune. Can i set at 100hp without modifying exhaust and driving normal. So far i have noticed some power and milage improvements, but want to try 100hp setting to see if any difference with both, but the book recommends exhuast and pyrometer upgrades.

If you want to try the 100 tune for mileage, and you wont be getting on it too hard, give it a shot.

The EGT is only going to be a concern when you're really getting on it or towing a heavy load (towing is not to be done with the 100 hp tune).

I noticed that with the current update, it says the economy tune is 60 hp. When I first received my tuner (r03), it still had the 65 hp tune setting. Did anything change? I noticed the website that there was a test between other tuners for the 6.4L ford showing the comparisons. The only tune that was near what is advertised is the extreme tune with near 100 rwhp. Is the hp ratings supposed to be done based on rwhp or a dino with just the engine. I am currently waiting for a response to see if I can get a custom tune. I was thinking of changing to another tuner for my 2003 6.0L 4x2 CC with a 4" turbo back exhaust.

While we were very pleased with the overall outcome of that test, it seems that none of the advertised gains were close to being met by any of the tuners tested, although we were a good bit closer than the rest.

It would appear the numbers generated in those tests were from a dyno that most are not familiar with, but all that counts is the repeatable gains from stock to the tunes, and we showed that all day.

Mike
I sent you a PM and an email with a what the truck has as a factory tune in order to get a custom tune, just wondering if you received it. I tried the 100 hp setting from the r03 and it didn't seem as smooth as the 65 hp tune vr03. I realize that the 03 6.0L is trickier to tune then the later versions.

No I want to clear this up right out front. The dyno was not loaded and was using intertia which is why the truck did not make the power that it should be making... ALL diesels must be loaded corrrectly in order to test the power numbers otherwise you will get incorrect readings... If you were to jump on an intertia dyno then yes you would get these results. If you were to jump on a loaded dyno and do a Loadaccel run then you would get the full 160whp that is advertised. No tricks in our tuning it's purely the test...
