Ok spoke to two of my mechanic friends, both said it is obvious, back off the timing and see how it runs. (One said something about how efficient these 243 heads are and that we don't need to run tons of timing.) I am not a mechanic, so that really didn't do much for me. I also found out by talking to Lew that the DS tuner works in % when dealing with spark timing. 10% is like 1 degree of timing. So I tuned -10% for 1.8K -13% up to 4K and 12% up to 7K and Injector Slope of -12, ran the car and my LTFT's were running -6.XX so we stopped and tunned the IS up to -8 and that gave my an Average LTFT, Bank 1= 0.62354 % AFR @ WOT of 12.13915 and a max KR of 2.416 but that was very few and far between and a whole bunch of 0's!! So I may have been a bit rich even though my logs don't seem to show that (maybe timing can change this??), and had a bit too much timing for my elevation/climate?? My tune as of now is IS -8 and less timing -14 up to 1.8K -14 up to 4K and -14 up to 7K, if I am reading the forum information correctly I have only retarded the timing by 1.4 degrees. I am trying to get rid of all KR and then I think I have some head room for sure in the 4K - 7K timing area. If I am dead wrong, feel free to let me know, there is some great information on this site and I think that if you really want to "fine tune" "your tune" you have to do it yourself or hope that someone like Lew is there to hold your hand and point you in the right direction as he did for me. Thanks Lew! Master of the DS tuner!

One other thing, I have a DS for my 06 GMC 5.3L truck (For well over a year now.) and I read something in a topic for the Hemi's, I did not realize it until I read it. The guy was saying he has put 500 miles on his tune and it seems to keep getting better... I found that to be true with my truck, 30 miles to relearn a tune has got to be like the bare minimum, take the time get it close and drive the crap out of it then log it to death, analize it and adjust accordingly. Diablo is not going to do it for you and everyone has a different car in a different location so they won't be the same... Some tunes just work and others you have to really work to get them there, like my truck, it was great right out of the box. I did some tranny adjustments and let it ride. Seems those Hemi guys are having the most fun.. We all have our own preferences of what we want out of our tunes. ok maybe more than one thing but I hope someone may find this helpful.

Second last thing LOL this is not cheap either I have 3 tanks of gas invested in the past 4 days... Sure beats sitting at the bar or in front of the boob tube for me...

At first the timing setup that GM went with for our cars drove me nuts, but with this percentage system, it really allows you to fine tune it, not to mention I feel a lot better knowing what my car is doing. I always thought it felt like something was wrong when I punched it and I was lean. I know the car will adjust somewhat to protect the engine, but there's only so much it can do on the fly. I know I'll have to pull a little timing for the summer as the gas turns to junk again around that time, but it's nice having that ability to get the most out of your vehicle, regardless of the time of year.

Ok real close now...

Ok seems I may have figured something out… In the DS I cannot adjust part throttle timing… it says WOT spark…. Look at this log and tell me how I back of PTT. I can hold the throttle @ 40-50 consistently and get this thing the KR forever… from 60 -110, but less throttle or more throttle it will go away.. I did another log where my slop/LTFT was lower but it was do the same exact thing, but it was on the same run, therefore this second log over wrote the other. No big deal LTFT seemed to have zero effect on it. You can see the one time I jumped on it the KR came in as I went down on the throttle the once I was WOT the Spark settings kick in and took the timing out and got rid of the KR… So that’s working.

Oh and when I sit idle the CTP says like 11-12% so when CTP in the log says 43% really is was more like 30% I was just barely accelerating.

I did this 10 times on two logs very consistently.

Just thought about it... Funny my truck runs on Chevron gas with performance tune... Never logged it before, just went out for a stroll and watched the real time info, LTFT LOCKED on 0 (Why does GXP seem to jump all over the place?), 0 Kr and man that truck RUNS! I can adjust the TM on the truck and expected it to Kr when 2 nd gear ripped the tires loose, but to my non disapointment 0 KR... Bad mutha shut YO mouth! LOL Wish I could compare the two tunes... Would ike to put the truck tune on my GXP... I can see Lew rolling his eyes from Texas... Heh.

I load 87 Octane "Pull Tune" the day I go get the trailer, usually 2 days before we head out.

k man... I created a new custom tune for ya... should take care of all your troubles...

here's what I adjusted:

adjusted fans.... come one earlier and at more power to keep your engine running cooler...

Timing/spark table... it was WAY OFF, even from stock... points where it should have been about 5, it was at 24!!! so, I adjusted it back to stock/my settings

knock recovery rate - adjusted so it recovers from KR faster

knock attack timing - adjusted so it doesn't pull out as much timing when KR IS detected...

I left the other settings alone.. you had adjusted the rev limit and your injector slope.. those settings are still in this tune - even though the predator will show 0 if you go to modify it - just like it does for any custom tune file.

anyway... I'll email the new tune file to ya, so you can import it to the predator as a custom tune and then install it in your GXP...

Let me know if you have any questions...

Holy cow!!! I only got to put 16-18 miles on it so far but look at this!!! Ran so nice it was amazing! Smooth and EVEN BETTER throttle response! LOOK LOOK at this graph now!
YO Diablo send this guy some cash for his hard work! I am a bit disapointed that I got not even one response from DS but Lew was there the whole way through my trials. Thanks Lew you are a great guy and take a ton of pride it what you do! I respect, admire and Thank You for all you did with me and for me!!

Ok enough @ss kissing, LOOK at this...

 thanks man!! you're welcome...

on a side note though, that very first custom tune I sent'cha last week came from the DS guys - so DS did help out/respond to my request for ya... ;)

I just happened to find other stuff that needed tweaking as well, so I created a new/different custom tune for ya myself, since they're not around on the weekends... ;)

anyway, awesome man!! glad to see the tune I created for ya solved your issues... now start saving up for some new tires!!

Dude did I say something about that to you? I was just telling my wife I was going to get some next week... Oh that went over well! 2006 car bought in early 06.... 3rd set of tires! The bad thing is, I can't totate them... 245 or 255 in front and 225 in the rear... Car eats tires like breath mints.   Has NOTHING to do with my driving habits.. Going with the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2's. I hope they are a bit quieter than the Bridgestones that came on the car, this will be the first time to replace the rear tires. RR has some bad belts and makes a slight roaring sound.. Should be nice these tires have some good reviews.

i am guessing your car is a front wheel drive?

does it have any issues with CV joint making all that power you are making?

yeah, sickRED, the GXP's are a pontiac version of my car... same engine, same tranny, same FWD...

haven't had any issues with my cv joints... but I HAVE had to get both front wheel bearings replaced as well as a new steering rack...

i knew there would be some problems with power to front wheels....although you probably arent making a ton of power....

its definately enough to cause problems... kinda like a v-8 honda civic huh?
