Re: Black smoke, unable to pass CO test, Monte tune

Update:

I replaced the front O2 sensors, cleaned the MAF, this made a small difference, not enough to pass the emissions test. The tester advised me to heat up the cats with a few acceleration runs, perhaps that would do the trick, and to my surprise it did, the car passed the emissions test.

I ...

Re: Black smoke, unable to pass CO test, Monte tune

it could also be the MAF sensor itself went bad.. not uncommon, have seen it happen before.. or as mike mentioned, the O2 sensors...

I will clean the MAF sensor again this week, if that doesn't help I will install new O2 sensors. The O2 sensors have been on the car since new, perhaps 11 years of ...

Re: Black smoke, unable to pass CO test, Monte tune

I have changed the plugs, the wires, and cleaned the MAF with a special MAF cleaner.

Monte is right, it must be something on my car, his tune has worked flawlessly for years.

I am baffled and do not know what to do, that is why I asked for advice.

The search for a solution continues :normal ...

Black smoke, unable to pass CO test, Monte tune

(Excuse my English, it's not my native language)

I drive a 2005 Corvette C6 with a few modifications and a custom tune from Monte. The past few years I had massive problems passing the yearly CO test. the values are to high. I have tried to get my head round this problem, numerous attempts to find ...

Re: Errors in DIC not showing in Trinity

trinity reads trouble codes, none of those are trouble codes and it seems they did not trigger any codes in the vehicle.

OK....

So presumably there is a difference between trouble codes and error codes, I didn't know that. So the Trinity doesn't read these and there is no way of knowing which ...

Errors in DIC not showing in Trinity

When I drove my 2005 Corvette C6 backwards out of the garage three errors showed up in the DIC:

Service Anti Lock Braking system
Service Active Handling System
Service Traction Control System

I stopped the car, left the engine running, and with the errors still visible in the DIC I plugged in my ...

Re: LS2 running lean

The car was tested on equipment from a different shop and with those readings it would pass the mandatory emissions test.

So the emission test problem is sorted, now there's the running lean problem. I made a new log-file which I have send to Monte.

OK, thank you Monte, maybe it's time to buy new O2 sensors, the car has done 85.000 miles.

To be continued, I will post results here when I find out what it was (or not)

Re: LS2 running lean

get a can of CRC Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner .. and you spray the maf sensor wires to clean it...

Today I changed the oil + filter and cleaned the MAF with the CRC Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner. Unfortunately when we tested the emissions they were still the same. I did notice something that might ...

Re: LS2 running lean

OK....you need a custom tune :)

he's got a custom tune already.. I did a tune for that car back in 2012.. so it's been fine for the 3 years since the tune was done, heh.. car has been fine all this time, and the tune doesn't change, unless you changed it or changed something on the car since then ...

LS2 running lean

I drive a 2005 Corvette C6 with the LS2 engine. Over here in the Netherlands all cars have to be tested for emissions every year, and so far this was never a problem.

Without changing anything to the engine this year it seems the car is running way to lean, therefore the lamba is to high, and the ...

Range Low after installing tune

Please excuse my English, it's not my native language

I had a problem passing the mandatory emissions test with my Corvette C6 and modified tune, as a last resort I installed the original backup tune and passed the emissions test.

After the emissions test I installed Monte's custom tune ...
