i just got my unit back and now it will not upload a tune after i paid the 100 bucks. is there anyway to get the unit to upload a tune without buying the cables?

i'm having kinda the same prob sent my unit back to have it updated now it won't upload a new tune to my truck even though it will save the stock program. they are saying that i need an update to the 9r08 but it seems like if they sent it back to me it should at least update a tune even if it throws ...
