Awfully quick to rule it out aren't you.... open source software is great and it can be modded for many platforms, nothing has to be compatible with anything these days. You are probably correct on the GPS within the device but there is always the possibility of USB GPS or syncing with a phone ...

I haven't used it on an Android/inTune system yet but I use it on my Blackberry when required and it works great. Something similar might work better for you too, once an inTune comes for me I will gladly try it out.
