Well, I was working with tech support and then my Comcast email went out so I'm not sure if they got my latest backup file or if they tried to send me back a file to fix it with.

Update: I received my fix file today and it's back up and running.

I was trying to install the 87 Octane tune on my 2009 Silverado 5.3 and an error occurred and now it freezes up if I try to do anything. It shows that the tool has installed the tune (showing VIN locked) but I have no idea how far through it got. The key I get is:
BA9139 3EB38E 4803D0 E0E8F7 B0D9E4

With gas going up again I want to switch from the 91 octane tune down to the 87 octane tune. Do I have to restore the factory tune before installing the 87 octane tune or can I just install the 87 in place of the 91 tune?

2001 Silverado 5.3 using the U7198 Predator.

Last tank was up to 16.4 mpg and that was still mostly around town daily driving. It will be interesting to see how it does on a long highway run. But I'm very happy with the results and the way the truck runs/drives.

Figured I might as well throw in an update. My last tank of gas came out to 15.7 mpg and that was with all around town driving and maybe 5 miles of highway. I don't even get into overdrive in my normal driving. I've also been using 93 octane and just filled up with 87 to see if there is any ...

I would say no because those spark/timing adjustments are only for WOT and cruising at any rpm range will not be affected by those settings.

I don't think I've actually hit WOT with the truck. I'm looking for the best combination for mpg with normal driving so if I have too much timing and it's hurting where do you think the best timing would be? I rarely get above 50 mph in my normal driving unless I have to jump on the highway for 5 ...
