This same thing has happened to me and trapped me out of town! No way to talk to someone? no emergency support! 1500 miles from home!

Ok I found the issue... you MUST reinstall the main (1st) CROM and NOT the incremental update. So once I reinstalled the PRODUCTION CROm graphics were there. I the reinstalled the Incremental ROM..... All is GOOD!!!

Same Issue!
I have reloaded the firmware 5 times and still NO background or graphics.
