10 Ram 6.7 worried

Post by Rrudzi »

I just purchased an Extreme Power Puck for my truck over the weekend at a 4x4 Jamboree. I am now reading a lot of negative story's about them being problems on my truck. Should I be concerned? They seem to be old story's. are the problems with codes worked out? Also reading about them not lasting long. Are they element proof? Also was on a competitors website and read that the fuel rail pressure relief shims should not be installed on 2010 and up cummins engines . Is that true? Thanks

the codes were generally from not disconnecting the battery prior to installation.
Who said no to the shims?

thats just weird....they say its for:
2007-2013 Dodge 6.7L Fuel Rail Shim Kit

yes it goes on to say its not recommended for 10-13 models. I can;t really comment as I dont understand why they would say that ;)

That's why I am worried! I want t install it tomorrow. I got another question, Your Rep told me to adjust it to where I want it and leave it there. What am I actually changing when I twist the knob? What am I looking for? Will I feel the difference? There are no positions on the knob like 0-10 or anything to give me a reference.

you're increasing rail pressure as you turn the knob clockwise. You can adjust the power levels on the fly if you wish.

Well, I got a quick reply.

No worries. He confirmed for me that he has installed the shim kit in his own 2010 (:)) and in a 2011 and 2012, all running great with no issues.

I sent him the link you provided and he has no idea why they would say that.

Thanks

Sweet, thanks for all your help Mike. I got one more question. Will it hurt anything to drive with the shim kit in and the puck removed if I need to go to the dealer for warranty work? I still have 2 years and 70k left on power train warranty.

Here we go, I took my first trip of 390 miles truck performed great. The check engine light came on at 300 miles. Codes stored are p020a p020b injector faults. I followed the directions to a T when I installed this power pick so I would not have any issues. Yes, I disconnected both batterys and they remained disconnected for about 3 hours so that's not the problem. I had the dial turned up about a third. This was a completely healthy truck with no prior issues and it has 30556 miles on it. What do you think?
