less MPG at econe setting (85) than 110 setting

Post by jims327 »

I just made a 400 mile trip (one way) with the setting at 100 performance setting, I averaged 18 mpg, On the way back i set it to the econo setting (85) and averages 17 mpg, so why difference, Should I really trust the predator settings?, Nothing was changed and it was all highway driving, I have had the programmer for 2 weeks and am stilll kinda new at this, I have also noticed my MPH was off a little, My garmin said I was doing 73 mph and my speedomater was at 70, The reading on the MOV setting reads 47, I have LT295/75R16 tires, which I measured at 106 inches round which I figured was 598 rev's per mile times gear (3.73) divided by 60 gave me 37, is 37 the correct MOV, The next trip I make, I'm going to set it back to stock and see what the MPG are at stock, If it's 17 or 18 (or better) than why do I have (or even need) the programmer? I have a 2003 (all stock) F250 4X2 larient.

For what it's worth.....I have a 2005 F-250 6.0 that I bought new in 2005, and have used the Predator ever since. I have used every update (except to the newest one), and have noticed a significant difference between the economy tune, and the 100 hp tune. I get about 2 or more mpg's better on the 100 hp tune. I have hand calculated, and logged my mileage since the day I bought the truck. No complaints here, just an observation......

Driving style is the biggest factor, but it is not uncommon to see great mileage gains in the higher power tunes due to the extra injector timing, you just have to be able to be responsible with your right foot ;)

I'm not going to argue with the MPG's I;m getting, I think it's better than I expected, So, Any Ideas on the MOV that is set at 47, with the tire size that I posted, I think it should be 37, If I go ahead and change it to 37, what will that do? any damage, if not, Than I can try to dial that in so I can get the correct MPH posted on the speedo

The NOV does not affect the speedo at all, you cant adjust the speedo through the tune on this truck.

NOV adjusts the way the PCM tells the transmission to behave based on speed vs rpm.
