2006 Jeep SRT8 surging CUTTING OUT MAJOR ISSUE.

Post by tzitzikas »

2006 jeep srt8 vortech sc 8 psi CMR custom tune. Just purchaced the truck.

The idle will surge up and down when cold then smooth out when it warms up.
Had another tune made, same problem.Installed headers and the problem got worse ! Now it jerks you back and forth between 1000rpm and 2000rpm then stalls out,it feels like ignition. Can barelly drive it now with out cutting out.
Code P108 baro sensor and the P061A throttle torque management.Reset the computer same issue.Checked all the grounds and fuses and traced the ETC and MAP sensor wiring OK.
REPLACED:
PCM REPLACED AND FLASHED WITH THE LATEST UPDATE -IGNITION COILS-THROTTLE BODY-CRANK AND CAM SENSORS and new MAP srt4 sensor.New Pcv valve and ngk plugs. Dynoed at 475 at the wheels fuel and timing is good.
Replaced the intake gaskets.Stock tune flashed same issue.Only 37000 miles.

Have you asked the tuner to check it out?
Has he reviewed logs of the vehicle surging?

Yes the logs showed the TPS ETC voltage is surging up and down. The only thing that comes in my mind now is the electric gas pedal is the only thing i have not replaced. The tune is good. Its getting worse by the day now. what id did notice on the logs is the tps is fluctuating at idle. So now i will replace the gas pedal.

Its not that.
Timing is most likely causing the surge, and it should be apparent in the log files ;)

The idle does not surge when it is warmed up.It is good.
It is hesitating a soon as you feather touch the gas pedal and then stalls out, timing is 11 to 19 at idle fluating, when you touch the gas pedal goes to 29.

To be honest, you may be better off starting with a new tune.

Check cherokeesrt8.com for some recommendations from the guys there ;)

What wrong is that B/G is not one of the better tuners out there. In fact, many guys avoid them like the plague.

If you can come out to Long Island I'd highly recommend having AJ (HemiTuner) at Westbury Jeeps HemiShop do your tune. He among the best in the world and many, many of us swear by him.
