2004 Ford F250 6.0 Diesel PIDS and Overall Performance

Post by intercooled231 »

Have purchased a Diablo Trinity this past winter. Finally have a chance to get it in and use it for monitoring and programming. Like the power....fairly linear....not like an on/off switch. Shifting is good as well. Not soft....not hard. Just stiffer than stock so as far as performance goes all has been well. I also have an SCT as well so I know what the standard programmer for the Ford 6.0 is and this programmer competes well with it. :)

A question I do have....I have installed the latest update (1v12) and I do not have the pids for boost or trans temperature. With the latest update I thought these would be included. The standard gauges in the 6.0 package 1 thru 4 do not have anything close to it. Neither do the menus.

One last thing. And this applies too for any other 6.0 PS owners. Is there a specific pid list for the engine coolant, oil temp, etc etc for this truck? the menu brings up a list of four or five for each gauge parameter. It really would not be a big deal except that on the engine coolant side one gauge reads 191 F and the other one will read 194F. There are multiples for each gauge parameter, so it is tedious trying to find the right one. Not a problem for most people but with a 6.0 it can help signal closer an impending failure of the oil cooler with the increasing delta range between oil and coolant.

Sorry to ramble.

Good product. Truck likes it and so do I.

it sounds like there are 2 different ECT sensors being reported, the thing is, both are surely reporting the correct data, which one matters to you in the key.

Do you see a Boost PID in the synthesized menu in the PID list?

There are actually five different versions of ECT that come up and I think two or three that come up for the EOT. EOT always has the same temps. The ECT will vary as I have experimented and loaded them as four ECT gauges on the same screen and the difference average out to about 3 degrees F

There is no Boost PID at all and I have gone over it multiple times.
Only MAP and BARO parameters. No one is specified as Boost

Also no Trans Temp PID or reference to one anywhere. :|

All has been updated as of last night. Tried resetting to default gauge packages and reviewed those with no luck. Also made my own gauge pages (which is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it).

Kinda at a loss. Boost is not really a worry but would be nice. Trans temp I would really like when I tow as the factory gauge is a POS

BTW...thanks for replying so quick. I have always had good luck with emails as well to you guys in the past. Appreciate the effort.

Not 100% sure on trans temp, I would have to look, but I am not sure is its often an issue to get PIDs from more than one module at a time (PCM vs TCM).

Usually if we have MAP and BARO, we make a synthesized PID called boost in the synthesized menu at the bottom of the PID list. If there is no boost pid, it means the PCM does not report boost but uses MAP most likely.
I'll see if I can find a 6.0 to plug into and confirm some stuff when I find one.

Alrighty. Let me know what you find out.

Maybe one of the regulars with a truck (03-04) that same as mine that has or has had the same issues with chime in. It wasnt until 05 I believe that the 6.0 had an actual boost gauge from factory.

I do like the power though. It may not be as crazy as the SCT but the truck feels like it should....but with a good injection of steriods.....and viagra.....
