okay 4th try you guys have figured that i have 320 rwhp what does that equate to on fly wheel horse power =some-one ask me hey how much hp u running? well i'm not going to answer 320 rwhp= in laymen/commoner terms the answer is real hp=fly wheel.
if im at 370hp i would prefer to say 370 not 320 np
this question seems to be avoided at all cost-- i think because no one knows
i would certainly think that diablo would have a ball park answer-sinse this is what you do-- i;m not giving up on this subject.
thanks>

Rear wheel horsepower can be measured on a dyno. Flywheel horsepower can only be measured by pulling the engine out of the car completely and testing it on the bench. There is no general RWHP = FWHP * 0.86 equation to apply to your question. With every car the loss due to drivetrain is going to be different, because every car is different. All that we can tell you is what a car very similar to yours had at the rear wheel before and after it was tuned.

I've been told, and seen proof with some accuracy, that average HP loss from FWHP to RWHP is 18%. Meaning that, generally speaking, you can add 18% to your RWHP number and get a rough estimate of your FWHP. Like it was said above, each vehicle is different, and the only way to test FWHP accurately is to pull the engine and have it dyno'd by itself. However, that eqaution will give you a ballpark idea, if you want it for bragging rights. Most people I know talk about HP in the rear-wheel variety, because their engines have not been pulled out of their cars since they started modifying them. Good luck!

Help! My old computer crashed with my factory tune on it. Good thing is I had already transferred it back to the car. My wife got a check engine light and being that she works for a ford dealer she had the shop "Fix" it. Well, the "mechanic" told my wife that he had to re-flash the computer in the car! This happened about 6 months ago. Now i can only clear codes.
I get this message, Your Vehcile is not in our data base. Contact your dealer for a free update. Your cal_id is FBCE2B4. The Cal_Id I have on record for my car is FBCE052!
Is there any thing you can do to help me? I'm basically starting over. Only add on is a BBK COI
TIA!

why the hell worry about flywhel horsepower?? rear wheel hsp is what counts!! if your gt is automatic sunbtract at least 15% for paristic loss through the automatic...READ: torque converter, planetaries etc.......its the the horsepower transmitted to the ground at the rear wheels that are going to lower your E.T. in the 1/4 mile......you gotta play around with your tune and play close attention to data logging, engine diagnostics etc. if you are doing this on your own, or pay someone to dyo-tune the vehicle, taking into account every single mod you have made to your GT or V6.......

Rustang, you mention installing a 70 MM throttle body.....do you have the rest of the engine mods in place to take advantage of the increased air intake flow, IE, headers, highflow cat-back exhaust and/or x pipe? I left the stock dual 62 MM dual throttle body on my own 05 GT with FIPK, Hi flow Mac cat-back exhaust etc. I did rework my stock throttle body though, smootherd out the intake ports, plenum etc. between the the two valves.....with a self - tuned performance tune setup through trial and error with the Predator my naturally aspirated 05 GT Manual trans produces a definite "seat of the pants" increase performance increase......I think I can safely say with the K&N FIPK intake, and MAC cat-back exhaust and my own cutom FIPK tune I am seeing and extra 40 HSP rear wheel horsepower....next up.....some runs in the local quarter mile for some times to back these claims up....

Straling: Did you back up up the factory and modified tune? After just having gone thorugh simlilar b.s. with my 05 gt, the factory settings were stored on the predator and i was able to restore the factory tune from the predator, plus i had backed up the factory and modifed tune to my local computer just in case things went haywire.......

Addtionally, I back up my factory and performance tunes to my local computer, a USB drive and then secondary storage...3 copies....I am firm believer in redundancy!!

No, you'd need a U7141.
