Predator for LS2 GTO Failing to power up in OBD

Post by coryminton »

U7191
2005 GTO LS2

I received this thing as a gift and followed the exact instructions for fuse removal prior to connection but cannot get this thing to turn on. It powers up just fine with an external power source in the house, but the OBD cannot turn it on.

Any thoughts???

Can I power the predator externally and still program the car?

I am pretty bummed right now and would appreciate some direction.

Thanks,
Cory

check the fuse for th cig lighter. The obd gets power from it. On a truck it does anyway, mine did the same thing.

I did that and still had the same problem.

If the CROM file is out of date, is there any chance that it would not recognize the car?

Ok, I have updated the CROM file, checked all my fuses, and still nothing.

Is this one crapped out or am I missing something?

Will it work if I plug in the external power supply into an inverter in the cigarette lighter?

you can plug it into any vehicle for power, doesn't mean it gonna work, but just to check for power. if it powers, pull the fuse on your cig lighter and test it (multimeter checking for ohms, 0 ohms good, no measurement bad). you may also want to look, i had a vehicle that had 2 fuses for lighter, pull the owners manual to be sure.

Turns out, my OBD would not power it, but when I used the external power supply to power it via a cig lighter inverter, all my programming and logging worked perfectly. It may add another cable in the cabin to the mix, but it certainly allowed me to work with it. Best of all, this was a gift, so I don't have to go through the hassle of telling someone they bought me something that doesn't work.

I ran all the logs and go my slope worked out and can tell a big difference. This this is awesome!
