U7135 Update, Johan or Mikel, please...

Post by rham48 »

I'm in the same boat as everyone else - 09 Challenger RT, 5.7 engine, U7135 Predator. I will be getting a Corsa exhaust system installed within the next week or so and will be setting my car back to stock before it goes in to the Dodge dealer, who is doing the install. I'm pretty sure they will do all the updates while the car is there and I don't want to raise eyebrows by asking them not to install the updates.

So, Johan or Mikel, can you PLEASE tell us what is happening with the new update for our Predators? I know you are being bombarded with some pretty awful emails, PMs and forum posts, sorry for that. I am trying to be patient along with most everyone else, but continuing to ignore requests about updates is ultimately going to give DS a bad name, which is already spreading like wildfire through the internet forums. Maybe you could post a weekly message or something. Any response will be most appreciated.

A Loyal Customer.

A bad name?
Really?

Because we have not added support for a cal not yet available from Chrysler?

Tough crowd.

Read the forums, you'll see what I mean. Granted, you guys only have so much control over the situation and I understand that, but if you read the forums related to vehicles that use the U7135, you'll see for yourself. I'm not trying to beat you guys down, I would simply like some info. Frustrated customers=Tough crowd.

Regards,

Russ

** Maybe your failure to respond to customers questions about the issue?

** Maybe just outright ignoring their posts?

** Maybe not saying exactly what the issue is?

These all seem like pretty good reasons for a company to get a bad name!
Tough crowd? Really? After they spent $400 on something they can't use and they get totally blown off by the manufacturer of the item? Yea... what a tough crowd! What are we thinking!

Here's what I see!

1. Looks to me like he gave a response

2. If he responded then he's not ignoring the posts.

3.He said exactly what the issue is ( they don't have the new cal. from Chrysler yet).

"Totally blown off" Thats the best part !

This not the first time that Diablo has had to figure out something new and if you knew what it involved you might just have a bit more patience so that you don't get a product that might cause problems.

Bigsnake, the voice of reason, as always. My intent is not to gripe at DS. I don't know what is involved with this process, I assume obtaining the code, breaking it down, writing new code, creating new calid/crom and testing it. Very complex as far as I know. Bottom line: It would be nice to get some kind of update from DS periodically so we know what is happening and where they are at with the update, particularly since it is taking as long as it is (not a ding, it needs to take as long as necessary). No one wants a defective product but I think a bit of useful, periodic communication would solve a lot of problems and frustration, for DS and it's customers.

I agree. That's what we all have been saying. Most think we are trying to pressure them to speed up the update process which is not the case, just receive a little info about status. Just looking through the posts over the past several weeks all the replies (very few) don't give any specific info other than one step in the process or a condescending remark about your question. Of course if there was a thread explaining the process and an actual update periodically it would keep the negative posts to a minimum.........

I thought it was not inappropriate. It is a performance car forum after all and I would expect at least a little attitude (feel better about it actually). On the flip side, there are dozens of the same posts. If you noticed the original poster doesn't even have a problem. He's asking why DS hasn't responded to some general posts. Most of which are repetitive "are we there yet?". And some of which are for a calid that isn't even available (which has been explained). Sure there's lots of room for improvement here but not in this particular case.

My solution would be this:
A read only section on the forum where DS lists support tracking issues.
DS updates the issues when there are updates.
DS doesn't respond to any posts about status for any issues that are listed in the support tracking area.

So for this particular issues there would be a post/entry for "09 Challenger R/T 5.7 CALID 12345678AX"
With status: "Not yet available from Chrysler"

You'd still get all the same "when is it going to be done?" and "WHY aren't you fixing it?" but it would be better.

As a long-time lurker, avid Dodge guy, and Predator customer and fan, I am gonna tell you all my thoughts.

There are a few at DS that are a tad rough around the edges on customer communications.

There a few owners that need to understand the nature of the updates from Dodge and the fact that they each require some engineering time to accommodate.

So my summary - be patient, wait it out. Leave DS alone to do what they do best, make world class programmers.

How does DS saying we are X% done change your lives in any way, shape or form? If they say they are working on it, they are working on it and it will be done when it is done. If you don't like it, use a competitor's product. It's that simple.
The apostrophe does not mean "Look out, here comes an S"!

"I couldn't care less" means it is impossible to care less - "I could care less" just makes you look stupid.

Actually it's not that simple. The statements from DS in June were "It'll just be a few more days" and that's where the issue lies. Since they stated that they supported 2009 5.7 300C's on their website, I purchased one. If their website stated that they supported 2009 5.7's except AWD, etc, I would have purchased a competitors product.

Any else brilliant to add???

Its not 'any 300 except all wheel drive', it is any 300C that has been flashed at the factory with the new calibration that Chrysler has yet to release....

the problem for the "customer" is that they dont know their CALID before they order and do not have access to check the CALID because it is an internal software number. Its not printed on your door jamb and it has nothing to do with a production date either.
