Ported throttle body for 5.3?

Post by SandMan817 »

I was looking around on ebay and i found a company that sells a ported throttle body for the 5.3, i was just wondering if anyone has used one of these before, and if so, did you notice anything? Also, would the ported TB mess with adjusting the LTFT's?

It will likely affect your LTFTs, they are generally worth about 5-8 rwhp on a stock LS1, I would guess even less on a 5.3...

i've been looking around and people have said that they notice a nice improvement in the mid to high rpm range, and they are good for about 10-15ft/lb and around that 5-8hp gain. Would these gains be higher after adjusting the LFTS's and the Power Enrichment?

Meh, I wouldn't waste the money like you did with that TB spacer if I was you. You will only see a 5 hp gain if that, and that is at the flywheel. So basically RWHP you are looking at a <3 hp gain. I don't know what you are paying for the new TB but from the ones I have seen, they are all around $100 shipped. So with that said, you are essentially paying $33 per hp which is entirely too high for a simple bolt on. The stock TBs are good enough for a NA vehicle. When you get into the forced induction, that is when the ported and polished TB starts being very effective. Just my 2 cents on it, but heck what do I know?

Haad one. what a waste. It was more problem than it was worth. It did give me more low end torque, but couldn't stop the trouble codes.

Most definitely! They are NO GOOD!!! If you don't believe me then go spend $100 and get one. I will accept your apology later when you come back and say you are sorry and should have listened to me. :punisher:

i ported mine myself and noticed a seat of the pants difference. throttle response is way better and off the line power is slightly better. I have a 2007 with the larger 90mm tb and on my 2003 I had one and didnt see quite as much as I have on my 2007. I have a smaller tb that i ported the same way as my 2007 one and it is the one with the electronic sensor on it I will sell cheap if anyone wants it.
