Few Questions - Predator U7194 locked

Greetings,

I have bought a locked Predator U7194 as it appears to be after trial to connect it to my car and the guy that I bought it from, does not reply to my e-mails. I bought it from the US and got it shipped all the way to me.

Few questions for the experts here:

1 - Can the device be unlocked by Predator if I pay the $99 by credit card as I live overseas and it is costly just to send the device all the way to the USA. The question is , can it be done through online connection if I provide you the required codes or serial number? or does it have absolutely to be sent to DiabloSport ?

2 - How do I know, if the predator needs hardware upgrade? is there something that can be read through the menu?

3 - I found from the menu that the tune is made for 91 Octane but in this region we have a normal 94 Octane and Super as 97 Octane, so can something be done so that the predator can make use of the 97 Octane as it will give more power and less knock?

4 - I heard that the custom tunes made by any, will dispear from the predator the minute the car is brought back to facoty, i.e. once the car is brought back to normal. Is there a way to save the custom tunes made or received ?

5 - What kind of factors shall I take into consideration when I go for tuning (after I get the predator unlocked) to compensate for Hot temperature more than 9 months of the year, with high humidity during 4 months of them? Getting a thermostate of 160 would be an obvious solution and making the predator open the cooling fan when Air Condition is on are obvious ideas but what about other important factors, people like me have no idea about ? Timing ? Spark Plugs ? ...etc. ??

Any idea or referenced articles or information would be highly appreciated.

1. yes it can be done over the phone.
2.The 7194 has no hardware updates, so you will be fine with it.
3.The "Diablo Tune" is set up for 93 octane fuel.
4. You will ideall have the custom tunes sent to you by someone so you will always have it on your pc, if you ever loose it on the predator, just load it back into the predator from your pc.
5.get the t-stat and lower the fan settings in the predator for it, thats really all you would need to do.

3) Please remeber that Octane ratings in the US are based on the (R+M)/2 method. I believe American 93 OCtane is equivalent to premium overseas fuels. A quick google search should confirm.

1. Tech Support - 800-531-5484 Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm EST... much better off to do it by phone, cuz you need to have the predator powered up/turned on the whole time during the process, because of dynamic codes that get generated...

cuz the predator will give out certain random codes - which you need to tell the diablo guys, then they give you a "reply code" to enter in the predator which is based on that random generated code, and presto!

but the kicker is, everytime you unplug the predator and plug it back in, that random generated code changes all the time... so, you can't just get the code, email it, get a reply code back, then plug in the predator and enter it... cuz it won't match up, since the predator will generate a new/different random code again when you plug it in and power it back up.

so it has to be done live and in person, over the phone, in real time... with the predator powered up continuously throughout the process in order to keep the codes in sync.


BUT, if you really need to do it via the forums or emails with johan - you just have to make sure that the predator is powered up and left turned on the whole time, until they provide you with the pass code to enter into it... you can't turn it off/unplug it from the power adapter until the pass code is entered and the predator gets reset...

otherwise the codes will change and you'll be back to square one...


3 - it is setup for at least 93 octane fuel here in the U.S. your higher RON ratings over there is equivalent to our 93, so you are fine - you can use the diablo/93 tune with your 94-97 fuel over there.

5 - you can't change the temps at which the fans operate, you can only change the % power they run at... so, increasing the % power will make them run more/at higher power. you can start off by increasing each one by 10%...

1 - Is there another number other than the 800 number as it does not work from overseas. Thanks for the explanation about the changing produced special codes. I understand it better now because there are lots of software that does that and I think now that some vehicle electronic key (to start the engine and open the doors) does the same thing everytime you stop the engine and lock the doors.

Now if Johan has MSN Messenger and I can have his screen name, it can be done on the go and the Predator will be on all the time for the changing codes issue and hopefully that will do the trick. IF we have the technology, we can put it to use.

3 - Regarding the US 93 Octane being equivelant to 97 Octane due to the calculation methodology, I undersand what you say and I will do more search on the subject and get back to you on this one.

4 - I am impressed at the level of details that this is going to take me into for custom tune. I will definitely be in touch with you once I understand fully all what I read from the Testimonial web page. I am abit slow these days...haaa haaa... as I cannot get the Predator to work properly (as it is lucked).

Allow me to disagree pal. I tried 800, 1-800, 01-800, 001-800....all the 800 (free number telephone numbers in the US) is not accessible from our communication network, due to missing agreement between the communication companies. Else, I would just call and talk with all those 800 numbers...LoL.
Every company has two numbers (normally) one 800 number which is free call number and also their own number which you have to pay to call and normally that is not an 800 number and it is reachable from overseas like any other home phone number.

Regardless, I am waiting to hear from Johan for question 5 on how to access the fan temp operation and if he has a screen name on MSN Messenger so that I can communicate with him to unlock the Predator, and it would be much faster than e-mail communication (in spite of the time difference...its now 10:32 pm of Thursday evening now).

from Europe, you would dial +1 561 908 0040, maybe from your corner of the world it would work this way as well.

I assume you folks are on GSM cellular (as is most of the world OTHER than the US with the exception of two (i believe) US carriers)

so, from GSM cellular, should simply be +1 Area Code + Number

Thanks Grumpy for the explanation.
As I mentioned earlier to Lew, the 800 free number in the US will not work from here, but the local number he provided me with later on will for sure (of course with the area code and +1 number before the area code + the local number). Matter is solved and no offence was meant. It is just the wording that may be interpreted wrongly. As you all know, writing is missing one dimension at all times, and that is the human aspect.

Lew - you are great..pal..don't get upset...I was simply trying to explain what I knew about communication companies. I wished I can call free 800 numbers in the US. It would have been great if it worked really.

I am still waiting for information from Johan if this unlocking can be done via MSN Messenger screen instead of e-mails.
