HELP!!!! DSP wont write!

Loaded the new TEST crom up, loaded the perf93 tune. Wanted to remove some fuel and it didnt load, now all it does is say that the original backup has to be restores. I click ok, and says its unable to load. tried 100 times and same notice. It even says the same thing when i plug it into the 12v converter.

Now i cant change anything....

The DSP recognizes the previous tune didnt work and asks to restore original tune. So when i agree and it tries to restore it it fails and all it does is reboot.

If i click ESC it allows me to go into regular diablo menu, so i tired loading the 93perf tune agian, original and nothing worked.

The SIM dot usualy only stays on for a couple of seconds. But whne the diablo asks you to turn key off then turn it on, the red DOT stays on for couple of seconds, then turns off for 1 sec and comes back on and never turns off, so im assuming that doesnt allow it to write the files.

I have a save copy of my original tune. Can i downgrade to the 9r17 even though the car is not back to stock? Then maybe load the saved original onto the predator?

Well the downloader wont let me change the CROM because the car hasnt been returned to stock. I have kept trying and trying but it just wont write anything. Even tried different battery. Im starting to think i has to be something with the SKIM(sp) key. Because the dot wont dissapear when diablo is trying to write on pcm,

The programmer can still datalog without a problem, and have access to all menus. And just my luck that tech support is closed till monday.

This is a new one, I have sent the test crom out to a few people and haven't had any issues. Nothing has changed since you uploaded the new crom correct? No extra plug ins or anything that could possibly prevent a write?

Can you explain to me exactly what happened during the writing process. Did it get to 100%? What were the exact error messages that were displayed? When you say you wanted to pull fuel, did you modify a parameter then try and write the vehicle? When you say it was unable to load the original backup do you mean it just fails to write?

Ok here is what i did:

1. Restored original tune to car. Updated Chrome on programer.
2. Flashed 93oct performance tune Succesfully
3. Tested tune, running lil lean and had kr.
4. Modified seetings (fuel and timing) and flashed car. After some time it said "unable to write...."
5. Rebooted DSP, automacticly requested to restore original file since last flash failed. Original tune flash said "unable to restore"
6. Tried flashing 93oct tune again, got "unable to write"
8. SEnt copy of original tune to predator, and tried flashing. Same error!
9. Scanning options work, but cant flash


Nothing changed. I had turbo timer. and wideband setup before and always worked. I tried turning both off. disconnecting
battery, disconnecting fuse. everthing and still cant flash. The SKIM key light stays on. Im not sure if that normal.

Ok, when it went to write that modified tune, did you get a progress bar? Did it make it up to a certain percentage and then fail? does the car start at all now or no? Now when going to write any tune, do you get a progress bar or does it immediately say unable to write and just reboots? Sorry for all the questions, but it really helps narrow down exactly what happened.

The very first time i flashed the 93oct perf tune it had the status bar and flashed successfuly. After i tried to make adjustments and flashed it all i got was a hourglass and error message. After that the programmer always request to be flashed back to original tune, which always fails and NEVER gives status bar anymore, only the hourglass.

Any tune i try to flash fails and only gets hourglass. Usually it takes about 45 secs for it to say it failed with NO status bar.

The car turns on fine. It has the 93per tune on it, but i cant change it in any way.

I am trying to recreate this on the bench right now, you can tell me exactly what parameters you modified? I believe duster 360 did something similar and had no issues so i want to try and re create exactly what you did.

I've screwed things up several times but was always able to get them working again.

Most if not all of my issues were do to a crappy cable connection.

I dont think its a connection issue, since it can scan wihtout issues. Next step is to completely remove the turbo timer. Even though it worked perectly fine before with it.

I still find it weird that it will scan and do anythin with the car, but wont flash. And i dont remember my SKIM light staying on when it was trying to flash.

ok i just finished testing on the bench and did exactly what you did and everything went well. I am leaning towards a possible issue with the tool itself. You can try going to ds downloader and going into legacy mode and forcing the old crom back onto the tool. Then try reflashing, however i have my doubts that it will work. Since it still connects to the car and such, i believe the issue lies in the tool itself.

I will try it as soon as i get off work. I haventseen the legacy option on there, but i will certainly give it a try. Any special steps for the legacy option?

Also since the 93performance tune is currently on car. will it cause any issue since ill be changing the CROM? I do have a backup copy of my stock tune on computer

legacy connect you never want to do, unless we tell you to that is. Whats going to happen is it will force the old crom onto the tool, but it will still remember that the last tune you wrote was the 93 octane. You can then try to restore the backup or write the tune again. We are expecting it to fail again just to rule out an issue with the crom itself.

You are going to open Dsdownloader go to the options tab and hit legacy connect. then go to the bottom of ds downloader and you will see the "express tune" tab, hit that and send the 9r17 crom to the tool. Then proceed to try and flash. If it fails, its either a tool related issue or a pcm issue. I am leaning towards a tool issue since the car seems to run fine.
