This is the 7-15-15 log. What do you think?

Anyone notice that his actual spark is less than 20 degrees? Is there something different with the '09 vs the '06?

RE: Re: RE: First datalog, what
Why does this raise an eyebrow? What is it saying to you? The 09 5.7L has VVT (variable valve timing), so possibly this may be the difference.
Re: RE: Re: RE: First datalog, what
Someone smarter than me will have to chime in about your '09 and the 5.7L. But, I have a 5.7L in a '07 Jeep and it will show mid twenties actual spark at WOT in the upper RPM ranges very similar to my '06 SRT with the 6.1L.JackFlash wrote:Why does this raise an eyebrow? RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: First datalog, what
Wow. That seems like a lot of fuel to add, but what do I know. I don't get nearly as excited about the ST KR as I do the LT KR. You get ST bone stock and they're not building them to blow up when they hand you a limited lifetime powertrain warranty.
Question: roughly what was the ambient temp when you ran your last log (or any of the logs)? Trying to better understand your intake temps relative to ambient temps where you live. By the looks of it, you must be running somewhere cooler than Houston, TX (where I live)...LOL!
By the way, what's your butt dyno telling you about the custom tune? Much improvement over stock and worth the expense? I may have missed that in one of your earlier posts.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: First datalog, what
Got it dialed in, I think. I changed the fuel to 9-18-20, and I have "0" ST knk, so I should be done screwing with the thing. Is there anything else anyone sees that needs attention by looking at the log? It's been raining the last few days, so the car stayed in the garage till today. Thanks for all the advice and help with this!!!

Need a little help with my first Data Log as well
i've got a max of 8.0 on my ST retard and 1.0 on my LT retard @ WOT. it holds pretty much @ 0 at idle and normal driving. what type of adjustment do i make here. looking at a few other peoples logs if there has been significant knock retard, it's been on both the ST and LT.
Also what exactly is ST and LT redard and what is the difference between the two?( sorry i'm a newbie)
The only mods i do have are just the predator (93 performance tune on BP 93 octane gas) and a 180 stat so far.
any help would be appreciated, thx

Re: Need a little help with my first Data Log as well
So if you want to play around with the 93OCT tune or the 91OCT tune if you need to.....Read the thread above....JackFlash is adding 9-18-20 (that indicates he is adding 9% in the lower, 18% in the mid-range and 20% to the top RPM range). As I have said, I went out a couple weeks ago and decided to screw with some gas and the canned tunes. I like screwing with cars and bikes, so I am comfortable at it, BUT CAREFUL. I did also use BP 93 octane and had a formula about the same as JackFlash shows to get my 6.1L to stop showing knocking most of the time.mopar372 wrote:i've got a max of 8.0 on my ST retard and 1.0 on my LT retard @ WOT. it holds pretty much @ 0 at idle and normal driving. what type of adjustment do i make here. looking at a few other peoples logs if there has been significant knock retard, it's been on both the ST and LT.
You should try the load the 91 OCT tune and log again. That may be too easy, but reading your post, you should start there. If you want to play, look at some of the suggestions, but basically add fuel in the RPM ranges where the ST Knock is spiking at WOT.

ST=Short Term LT=Long Term. The ST retard is the amount of timing the computer is pulling from your timing due to the output of the knock sensors on the engine. The knock sensors are monitoring the detonation in our cylinders for us. Think of LONG TERM Retard - that means that the computer has seen enough ST Retard and is pulling timing just in case. Indicates you need to stop the ST Retard ASAP.

What I dont get is why I keep reading people saying use the 91 tune with 93 octane fuel. According to Diablosport the only difference is the amount of timing, so 93 has it advanced some to tune for 93 octane fuel, yet so many get so much kr its a standard answer to use the 91 tune. If they are the same wouldnt it be just the same to load the 93 tune and retard the timing until you dont get kr?
DiabloSport says you need a catch can, and it may be bad gass, so does the 93 tune require a catch can? What I read people are getting kr with the 91 tune and 93 octane fuel.
Makes me wonder what they will find when they get the 2010's on the dyno.
RE: Re: Need a little help with my first Data Log as well
I really appreciate that info. I have also been hearing that I need to use a 91 tune w/ 93 fuel. I'll try that when I get home and log again to see what I get. I also have another thread in "general questions" about the catch cans.(http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?na ... ic&t=17491) Both mike and Johan have chimed in and they are both convinced about that catch can. There's even a link to a pic with a pool of oil in the intake manifold after only 4000miles on a jeep. Mine has just over 40000 miles. I'm sure it's enough in mine to change my oil with. And by judging by the pic, the oil doesn't seem to burn off. So I'm gonna take it off and clean it out, and try that catch can. If I still get KR I will add a little fuel, and if that doesn't work try the 91 tune.
Thx again for ur help tho, a have a plan of attack now

RE: Re: Need a little help with my first Data Log as well
from all the research I have been doing on these cars and with all the time I have spent talking on the phone with people from diablo st knock is normal and therefore it was something I was not concerned with, lt is crucial and needs to always be 0. if you were to bring the car back to the shop and we dyno I know you are making less hp than stock with adding that much fuel. I have tried to email you back with the info about your log but for some reason my outlook box is not letting me send out mail and only recieve so this is why I am replying here. I noticed you stated that you are less than impressed with my tuning abilities, and that really makes me frustrated when all the "extra" time I spent trying to resolve your "issues" you having with the shifting and even the map that yohan sent me to use still did not fix it and then I got it resolved. then you had "issues" again and that was because you loaded it back to stock to get an update flash at the dealer and then reloaded the wrong map back in the car. I have been to several tuning schools and spent thousands of dollars for my training, I am very qualified to be tuning, if there are issues that arrise you need to contact us. please call me here at the shop so we can make some resolve of this.

Who r u refering to "prerace". U responded to my post, and yes I have another thread, but i my other thread Is dealing with whether or not to invest in a catch can. On offense but I have no idea who you are nor have criticized any of your work.

A custom tune is in the plans tho
