RE: Still poor mileage
My boost runs around 35 when towing up hill, around 15 on flat. 10 is the lowest reading I've seen under any acceleration.
RE: Still poor mileage
I would think its your egr valve MAtSTER. Sound a lot like the troubles i have been having, finally getting my truck in to switch it out!!!
RE: Still poor mileage
Hoondog here,
Yes, I am still getting 16-17 mpg out of my completely stock 08' 6.4 driving with a light foot at 65-71 mph using the tow tune with cruise control as much as possible. I hauled 10,000 lbs a couple weeks ago in tow tune and dropped down to 15 mpg at 70 mph. I live in central wa state where the climate is warm and the air is dry. Note that I was only getting 11.4 mpg after the ford reflash. Can't thank Don enough for the work on getting these fords to run like they should have from the factory.....

RE: Still poor mileage
i have another truck coming in here today. This truck has a spartan system on it, no dpf, intake and a built tranny. I offered him some dyno time in exchange for taking a look at look @ the spartan tunes. I will post up some results today.

RE: Still poor mileage
let us know if you find out about the intake codes.
RE: Still poor mileage
I have heard of guys with the spartan tuning putting down 550hp and 1200tq or more. Guess the tunes are just crazy!! Super costly thou!!!
RE: Still poor mileage
Ok so this truck was harley davidson addition 6.4L f250 with air raid intake, dpf delete (still retained the cat) and a built transmission. Stock it did 300/600...no different then a stock 6.4L..very interesting. I will post the number on monday as i cant remember what tunes did what. I tested motor city diesel tunes, and spartan tunes. The Spartan's i remember got good hp but torque only was around 1000 for the best run. I was expecting a little more. I got to test a street and race verison of the motor city and a V4 version of spartan's 275 tune.I noticed that torque is virtually unaffected by the dpf, but hp takes a big jump when deleted. As my tunes made 440/900, one of the tunes made 500/900. probably b/c it could tolerate more timing. Truck goes 13.4 @ 100mph on the street motor city tune, i remember the race picked up another 50hp/100 ftlbs so i would assume he is in the 12's now. No codes with the air raid intake.

RE: Still poor mileage
was the lack of airaid intake codes tune related?
RE: Still poor mileage
Not sure, we did dyno it stock and got no codes, but it was onlyfor a few wot runs over a few minutes so i doubt they would have even showed up. Im real interested to see the l30 based tunes and see how the calibration is diff v.s. the l20. I did a comparison of the old cal's vs the new ones and didnt see anything that really stood out that might cause the codes. I still need to do some digging though..

RE: Still poor mileage
I have been keeping a close eye on the boost. While cruising on hwy. it's 10 psi. or less... when I accelerate to pass or going up hill it's 20-30 psi... while towing at cruising speeds it's 20-25 psi... while under acceleration (still towing) it's 35-40. Can I safely tow around 7,000 lbs. in the 80 h.p. tune? I seem to get a little better mpg (less than 1 mpg) went from 9.3 to 9.9. Was using the 50 h.p. / economy tune.
