I Have No EGT Gauges

Post by haffne »

I sure I am being overly cautious but I have couple of questions. I just purchased the predator for the 6.0 diesel and I pull a trailer that weighs around 11000 lbs.
1. If I use the towing tune program will the EGT's get to high?
2. If I had an EGT gauge what would be the highest you should let your EGT's go to?
3. In the manual it states "after each tune has been installed the transmission has to undergo an adaptive period of 5 cold starts, so does that mean you can't be in economy performance then switch to tow tune and immediately start pulling because you need 5 cold starts for the transmission to adapt?
Thanks for the info

1, No we designed these tunes simply for towing.
2. This depends on where your monitoring the EGT. In manifold 1450 is pushing it.
3. Actually after programming the Transmission adapts pretty quickly. We say 5 cold starts because some people take the truck up and down the street quickly. After 5 cold starts its pretty much adapted to your driving style. But truthfully i flash and tow.
