BLACK BOX DISABLE

does anyone know if diablo plans to add a parameter to disable the black box (car data recorder) on dodge chargers. this is so big brother does not know i was doing a 150mph when i ran over the neighbors cat!

Pretty sure it only records information at the time of airbag deployement only. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/blackbox/

I doubt they are concerned with controlling anything like that. Also, it may be illegal to touch stuff like that in the near future. Besides there areno performance gains/aspects from something like that.

I wouldn't worry if Chrysler knew you were going say 150mph. It's none of their business and they aren't the police. Besides, how do they know you weren't on the track or private property going that fast??? Which isn't illegal.

I suppose you could find it and disable it yourself, but what IF. Just what IF, someone creamed your car and killed you because they were going 150 and crossed over the line coming around a corner. Wouldn't you want the Police to get their black box info(if applicable) to show that you were not in the wrong???? That's why i say it may become mandatory for all cars and illegal to deactivate a device like that.

There are no performance gains in scanning trouble codes either and to make ones own property illegal to modify just would not fly! (yeah i no about emmision controls) also iam not worried about chrysler/fiat/govt. iam worried about some slime lawyer getting there hands on that information wether its in my favor or someone elses it aint nobodys buisness what i do! (i undestand that i drive my car on public roads and there are laws to obey but i believe this is a serious breech of privacy) its kind of like our seatbelt and helmet laws a bunch of bull! besides we got along all this time with out them, whats next speed limiters? anyway i think diablo should add this parameter and could use it to help promote sales of its product! thanks for the link it was informative!

im a illinois state trooper so it is impossible for us to do that.
we donot have a scanner for speed controllers or do be honest obd2 does not have the memory for us to see if you were driving 200 mph only the ob3 which is not out yet but we will have the scan tool to do that but in the very late future.trust me ever see a cop turn there lights on and go threw a red light,then turns them off after he goes thre .

They actually do a section that records various conditions before airbag deployment, we would not even think about altering/disabling any of those features unless we where going out of business already.
