Bought a U1794, no instructions for 2007 tahoe. Please help!

Post by Travismc »

Well, I got my U1794, I purchased it for a 08 GMC sierra, I realize that it isnt supported, but I thought I'd give it a try, cause if it didn't work, I could use it on my brothers 2007 Tahoe, which is supported by the U1794.

So, I get the predator, and read the instructions. There are instructions for which fuses to remove for other cars, but not a 2007 Tahoe, or, a 2008 GMC sierra. I'm not sure which fuses to remove, I tried to figure it out by myself, but I'm still not sure.

That said, I get the "not a supported vehicle" message on both the 2007 Tahoe, and the 2008 sierra. Both are the new body style, with the 5.3 and the 4speed tranny.

Whats the problem? Do I need to return it? Help!

I should also note that the 8th digit of my Vin in the tahoe is 0, which should work.

Please someone help! I'm almost certain its not working cause I'm not pulling all the correct fuses, but I don't know which to pull cause I have no instructions.

the only fuse you should have to pull is the one for OnStar, if you have it. Look in your owner's manual for the fuse locations...

when you first boot up the Predator, what revision number is at the top of the screen?? It needs to be 8r05 or 8r06 to have all the latest supported calibration ID's in it. If it isn't, then you need to update it.

You need the serial cable and power adapter for the Predator, then you can get all the files you need from your download page:

unless your vehicle has a different CAL. ID than the tool requires.. it could be that... you could have a newer CAL. ID on your vehicle than what the Predator is programmed for, in which case you need to post that ID up here and let Mike or Johan check it out. It may require an update to the tool.

OR, you could have an OLDER cal. id and you need to get your computer updated at the dealer.

either way, I'm sure Mike or Johan will check in soon to let you know the next course of action...

Try cycling the key after the tool tells you the truck is not supported, it may reboot to the main menu and allow you to tune the truck.

Mike, for some reason I can't email you back, I get a message undelivered message - I think diablosports mail server might be down

Anyhow, to answer your questions, both trucks have 0 as their 8th digit in the vin, and the programmer is using 8r06

If giving you all the cal# info for both trucks will help, I'd be happy to, thanks!

Ok, that was crazy, this time, I plugged it in without taking ANY fuses out, and it got past the "unsupported vehicle" screen! SWEET! (this is on the 2007 tahoe) Then, I popped the hood, turned the ignition off, pulled the fuses, turned the ignition back on, and presto, it worked!

87 Tune is installed.

One last question, I realize the unit is married to that truck now. Can it be unmarried if I remove the tune and go back to stock?
