predator shuts down on key cycle!!!

so when i plug my predator in, it says that the last tune didn't write and asks if i'd like to restore back up now. so i say yes and it does it's thing. (if i say no, then it just says i can un-plug the predator now.)

then when it gets to the key cycle part (on/off) the unit just shuts off when i cycle the key.

i have the e-brake on and stereo turned off when doing this.

any suggestions? could it be something with the aftermarket stereo? i have tried it with the stereo un-plugged and it still didn't work.

sounds like the power to your OBD port is being cut off when you turn the key off, that shouldn't happen... seems like the aftermarket stereo wasn't wired up correctly for it's power...

i thought the same thing, but the pred works with the key in the off position when i first start the process. thats whats weird bout the whole thing.

So, with the key off, if you plug it in, the pred works, but if you cycle the key when it asks you to, the pred shuts off on key off?

the predator "works" - as in, it will install a tune and everything, or do you mean it just powers on and boots up??

it SHOULD power on and boot up with the key off, since it gets its power from the obd port... but it SHOuLD NOT be able to tune or do anything else without the key being turned on...

As above already explained... i'll make it easier to understand.

Keep your keys in your pocket(not in the ignition) and close the doors then plug in the Predator to the the ODB port. Does it power on?
Yes...then you need Tech support.
No...Check your fuses.

Easy as that.

so i went outside just to double check this situation, and this is exactly what happens:

keys in pocket, plug pred in and it boots up. tells me to turn car on

turn car on, and it tells me last tune did not write, restore back up now? i click yes.

pred writes tune then tells me to cycle key off/on; i do, then it turns off.

sometimes like this morning, after the key cycle, it takes a couple seconds for the pred to turn off. on the screen it goes from cycle key on/off to "wait . . . seconds" then turns off.

my check engine light is on cause i have to replace my egr valve, this couldn't have an effect on it could it?

Sounds like a problem with this tool, I'd contact the dealer you got it from, and see if they can swap it out for you.

the problem with that, is that i have a tune programmed into the car already. this isn't the first time using the pred. i was having this problem when i first got it, then it worked just fine and got a program into the car. now i want to return it to stock and am having the same problem again.
