'07 C6 Z06 7194 Questions

Post by johnweitz »

Just got my 7194 and I am approaching this very cautiously as I don't want to go the flatbed route. I've read and reread the manual and much of the related forum questions, but to be sure...

1) After any Predator operation has completed, is it best to disconnect the ODB-II connector with the ignition OFF or ON?

2) I read in at least two posts that I won't need to pull any fuses if I don't have Onstar. Just be sure that the radio is off. Correct?

Last evening I connected the Predator to my vehicle, then turned on acc. mode to check a few diagnostic features (VIN etc.) just to see that I had communications, then pulled the OBD-II connector after turning the ignition off. At that point the fuel gauge went from 1/2 tank, to pinned on empty and I got a "Service Fuel System" error msg and a Low Fuel warning. I've never seen this behavior before, and it was remedied by a fill up of 1/2 a tank. It appears the Predator somehow corrupted the level so I'm concerned about the connect/disconnect power sequence. Thoughts?

Thanks,
-John

John, I just used a predator on my 07' tahoe, and let me tell ya, the dash was screaming at me! Everything from stabilitrak disabled to service 4wd to engine service needed. Heck, once the doors even locked by themselves. I do have onstar, but pulled the fuses to disable it.

The good news is, I just ignored all the warnings, and did what the predator told me to. At the end of the programming sequence, it ask you to turn the ignition off, then back on, at this point, the predator verifies the update, and all my warning lights went back to normal. Must just be kinda quirky......but it works!

1. Does not matter, as long as you wait till the tool says you may unplug it.
2. Correct...but more than the radio, be sure NOTHING is drawing voltage.
