When is it ok to start the car with the predator plugged in?

when I'm doing datalogging, I usually have the car already running first, then I connect the Predator and go into the Diagnostics / Real Time Data section.

Wouldn't want to take a chance of a big surge being sent to the Predator by having it plugged in first and THEN starting the car. ;)

I plug it in and out car on off, have not had any issues yet, and i do it ALOT! More than i would like too, to be honest.
