C6 initial program load and run...

Post by nhgoodrich »

I am a newby with the predator, had the HP Tuner for years. I am using the same USB to serial connector but cannot get the DownloaderInstaller to connect, it continues to scan the Ports...

Also, the Predator kinda blinks when its on the 12v power supply, works ok when connected to the DLC, can this be part of the problem?

Thanks,

Nick

hmmm you have the correct power supply??? the predator shouldn't be blinking... could be the issue...

also, in windows device manager, check the settings for the usb cable... make sure it's set to be com port 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, and that the baud rate is 57600 or 115200...

As i mentioned, it works fine when connected to my truck, just not the power supply. and the power supply is a 120v to 12v with the correct tip. I would have thought i would get a menu or something, just a screen with some flicker...

i do not see any com port settings on the USB devices...

how do i attach a file, can show you the settings at present...

D'OH!!

did you buy this thing used???

if it's "locked", then it its still locked to the previous owners vehicle because they did not restore their original backup to their vehicle... and you will not be able to use it on your car at all...

you'll need to contact diablosport and pay them $129 to get it unlocked...

"Modify Tune" allows you to go into the tune and adjust various parameters, such as:

Timing Table 1000-3800rpm (+15/- 20%)
#
Timing Table 4000-4800rpm (+15/- 20%)
#
Timing Table 5000-7000rpm (+15/- 20%)
#
Fuel Table 1000-3800rpm (+/- 20%)
#
Fuel Table 4000-4800rpm (+/- 20%)
#
Fuel Table 5000-7000rpm (+/- 20%)
#
Idle (+ 500rpm / -300rpm)
#
Speed Limiters (Trucks Only)
#
Rev Limiters
#
RPM Shift Points
#
MPH Up and Downshifts
#
Shift Timing
#
Shift Pressure
#
Cooling Fan ON and OFF temperatures
#
Re-Calibrate Speedometer for Gear and Tire Size Changes
#
Upshift torque reduction (all gears) ON/OFF
#

you don't want to just start adjusting things blindly... you'll want to do data logs to check various parameters...

the first thing you should do is to get your fueling adjusted correctly so that your average LTFT's (long term fuel trims) are in the proper 0 to -2 range...

here's info on how to do a proper data log, what parameters to log, and how to make that adjustment:

http://diablosport.com/index.php?name=P ... opic&t=917

doing that process will give you better throttle response, better acceleration, stronger/harder pull, and better mileage...

can you tell me how to get that done?

ok, hang on...

what model predator do you actually have? I've seen posts where it's a 7193, and others where you say it's a 7194...

and I see a thread about you sending it in to be upgraded/unlocked -- if it was a 7194, you wouldn't have to send it in for anything...

so what year/model vehicle do you have?

It is a 7194, just got it... i am using it on a '08 corvette Z06. I did the 91 Oct upload, then went back and started looking at the options.

So far, i have increased the rpm 400rpm (thats all it would allow) and bumped the timing 1 degree. I tested the rpm and it will NOT rev past 7000rpm.

With the HP Tuners, i could turn off the torque management, but have not seen it on the diablo...

the torque management on the engine-side is already disabled in the diablo tunes themselves... so there is no end-user adjustable parameter for that...

there is no tranny/TCM support yet for 7194 vehicles, so you can adjust anything relating to the tranny yet (shift points, torque management, shift pressure, shift speed, etc)
