Diablo Flashed different VIN to PCM

Flashing a car that has the wrong VIN in the PCM actually can suck. There is no way getting the right file back into that PCM. The software we use (chrysler software) uses the current VIN in the PCM to flash. So, when the dealer flashes that PCM all they are doing is flashing it with the wrong file for that car again. I can flash whatever part number I want into a PCM that doesnt have a VIN burned in it yet. Once the VIN is written youre screwed. I have tried to flash PCM's with different part numbers for the wrong VIN and it will not take because of the VIN. Is there a way around it. Maybe, I havent gotten that deep into it but have gotten pretty close. I know the Chrysler flash software is very limited.

Alright so I took my car to the dealer 2 days ago and they still cant figure out how to reflash it. Is there anything you can tell me that I can tell them, so they get some idea? Cause I know it is possible atleast from what I have been reading.

if they told me they didn't know how to reflash it(at that dealer), I would be calling around to other dealers and get the hell out of there. It's no big deal for most places to do it, and it doesn't take 2 days. If you have to tell them how to do it, that's not good. Just call another dealer. Good Luck!

Any dealer can flash your VIN on a used PCM that has a different Vin on it. They really don't like doing it though and some tech really don't know they can. Dealer's don't often install used PCMs so I doubt it comes up very often.

I've done it several times with a DRB-III. It takes all of 5 minutes. The only other thing special you need, besides the DRB is your 4 digit SKIS pin #. You get the pin# from the Dealer.


How could this happen anyway? The Predator won't flash a PCM that has a different Cal ID or Vin # than the vehicle. Sounds like we don't have the whole story.

So if it take my car away from the dealer and bring it to diablo can you guys help me out. Again it is an 2005 NSRT4 with the stock PCM, cause it is going on like 5-6 days now and they arent giving me anything.

When I bought the predator it was used from a guy off of the forums, he said it was unlock set back to stock.So i pluged it into my car and it said it need to finish the last tune ie. recovery mode or something(mikel from diablo). So i let it do that and it blasted the other tune and VIN into my PCM.

You just need to find a dealer that is more experienced with the starscan/drb3

alright, any suggestions on that cause I am somewhat local to you at diablo, i live in ft. aluderdale, and its at University dodge now.

Tell them to act like it is a new, blank PCM they just took off the shelf....

alright so i just talked to the guy at the dealership and he said they have to replace the entire computer, but the dealer is going to pay for all of the parts $700 and i have to pay for the labor which he told me around 200.

damn. That sucks. At least they will cover it.

Labor still seems kinda high, it takes like 10 minutes to reprogram a new PCM.....

Wow, that was easy to figure out. Never really had to flash a VIN into a PCM that had a wrong VIN in it already but looked into it and pretty damn easy.

Alright so I finally got everything back and the car is running just like it did before. Thanks everyone for all of their input and help. Now I gotta see about getting the diablo set up.

Mikel-you said i would need to fax you guys the paperwork saying it was reflashed, which I have. What is the number for that and then what do I do after that?
