Added CAI and now worse mileage?!

Post by kybray44 »

2001 Silverado 5.3 , just added a volant and now i get worse mileage  . I had my ltft's adjusted to 0 and now they are showing 6.5. My question is when I go to adjust them under the performance tune, the fuel trim is already at -12. Do I just adjust another -6 or -7 from this point, or do i just set the fuel trim to -6? I couldnt find anything in the write up. At this point ive just set my trim back to zero and I am going to run it for a while and see what my ltft's are. Thanks for any help.

Re-log it and start over with the LT adjustments.

Make sure you run it 50 miles or so before you log to let the computer re-learn. I also lost mileage, about 2mpg, with my mods. I have removed my K&N CAI and reinstalled the stock air box. I have not completed a tank of gas, but mileage seems to be better now. The weird thing is my stock box required an adjustment of -8 and my K&N required only -4. I set everything back to default and drove for a while, then re-logged and adjusted after installing the stock box. Good Luck.
