Predator problems, reset to factory, and no more problems!
I'm having issues with the 93 tune etc. (U7136), and the 'Electronic Throttle Control light' going off occasionally, it's also throwing codes p2181 (cooling system), and p0128 (coolant thermostat, RE: coolant temp below thermostat). Note: I do have a CAI for my V6, but I had installed far before tuning the Charger with the predator. The problem has only arisen in the last three months, but has been consistent. I install the canned tunes, & have these issues, I reinstall the factory tune, and no problems. Seems the predator may still have a few bugs. Has anyone else experienced this issue? . Thanks for your time and attention guys.

No replies from the techs yet, hmmm, this kinda stuff is bad for business.. Weather it be through word of mouth, a web search etc.
I've found a post that will allow you to bring your throttle response back to life (below), which is what the predator did for me in the beginning. In restoring your factory tune, removing the predator tunes, your car is less likely to have problems (like I had above); and will act just as perky with this: (may not work on some models, but it worked as well as a canned 91 tune (at least) for me, and my RPM's were more responsive again).
Free Throttle Calibration Trick!
Did you ever notice the way these cars take off in first gear? They are sluggish, lacking throttle response and no matter how hard you press the pedal they still seem to have a lot of lag to get up and go. The problem is directly linked to your ESP (Electronic Stability Program) button which is designed as a safety feature to help drivers maintain directional stability on dry pavement, snow, rain or ice. The ESP includes a Brake Assist, which provides maximum brake force for shorter stopping distances in emergency situations. This is a great feature for the vehicle, but unfortunately hinders the ability for quick launch take-offs.
For those of you who are interested I have provided information below on how to disable this feature. Of course you assume all responsibility and liability by doing this. With that said, let's get started!
THROTTLE CALIBRATION 101
(This should work on all Dodge- Charger, Challenger and Magnum<>Chrysler- 300/300C<> 2.7L & 3.5L With ESP)
1. Make sure your ESP button is off before doing the next 3 steps!
2. Put key to On position and wait for dash lights and bells to turn off (Seat belt light will stay on!)
3. Quickly with a decent amount of force tap your fuel pedal to the floor and release your foot as to let the pedal snap back up.
4. Immediately after releasing the pedal, cycle the key back to the Lock position, turn key forward and start the car.
This will bring your throttle response back to life and your car will be much more fun to drive. I do this at least 3 times a week to keep the computer in sync. If your car reverts back to original throttle settings, just apply the 4 Step process above. Remember I don't assume any responsibility or liability for doing this. Also, to note I have not had any negative issues related to doing this calibration.

RE: Predator problems, reset to factory, and no more problem
Unfortunately that throttle calibration method was proven to be a complete myth about 3 years ago. It does seem to have a good amount of placebo effect on those who really want it to be true though. There is certainly no harm in doing it if it makes you feel better.
You need a StarScan to calibrate the throttle (pedal to TB actuator). The procedure is essentially the same but you have to have the StarScan to put the PCM into the calibration mode and then it prompts you through the steps of pressing the pedal, etc.
I will say this is the case for the Hemi's. I would expect it to be the same for the 2.7 and 3.5L.

How long do you drive with the stock tune?
If these issues did not appear immediately after installing the tune, it is most likely not a result of the tune.

RE: Predator problems, reset to factory, and no more problem
A myth huh, the same was said about the turning the key forward, when traveling at least 30 kms; having it shut off the ABS (for little extra). But, as per above, it works on mine (the ABS light comes on as in the ESP, to show it has been disengaged). Minus the placebo effect, as you suggest Quick; Hemis are different.
Mikel, sorry I didn't respond sooner, wanted to see what the 'stealership' had to say (took them a while to get it in)... They ended up replacing a faulty thermostat, I'm not sure when the issue appeared (my bad). So, I can't say conclusively, whether it was the predators program that inadvertently caused this, or not. in any event, thanks for the feedback.

ummm, key works for ABS and someone said that was a myth --> throttle calibration must work. fine, it doesn't work for the hemis.Niglin wrote:A myth huh, the same was said about the turning the key forward, when traveling at least 30 kms; having it shut off the ABS (for little extra).
