Anyone running a DS on and "M" code (VIN digit#8)

Post by FiveO »

I have a new 2009 GMC Sierra with the 5.3l, and 6-speed transmission. The engine code on the "8th Digit VIN#" is "M" (RPO LH6) "aluminum block and Aluminum heads ...non-flexfuel".

I'm trying to buy a Dioblo Sport Predator for it, but there seems to be a conflict in the web-page's application guide. The "Application Chart" shows that it is compatable with my 2009 Sierra 5.3l. However, the "notes" below the chart do not list an "M code" (VIN# code) for my 2009 5.3l "M code engine". Is that correct ...no programmer available for my truck??

"Cut and Paste" from the Web-page:
From the App Chart: GMC Sierra(new body style) 4.8L,5.3L,6.0L,6.2L

From the NOTE: This Predator will ONLY work on the new body style 2007 silverados

How to verify that the vehicle is supported

The eighth (8th) position in the vehicle identification number (VIN) is the code that designates the engine type. The Predator will support the vehicle if the engine code is:

2006-2007 Car: 8th digit of the VIN= U or E
2007-2008 Truck or SUV: 8th digit of the VIN= C, 3, 0, J, K, M, Y or 8
2009 Truck or SUV: 8th digit of the VIN= 0, 2, 3, C, or K

Can anyone help clarify this for me?

Thanks!

Man I hope they just forgot to add the 'M' to the '09 list and the 'M' carried over from the '08 compatable 7194.
That bike's gotta be badass... Good luck

joeyz71 ...thanks for the reply. Yeah, I hope that "M" code engine was accidently overlooked by the Dudes at Diablo Sport when they created that application list. I was hoping someone from DS would weigh in on this one.

And yes ..."The Hayabusa is Badass!!" (an understatement!) :P

the latest revision 7194 predator DOES support the "M" code engines...

the engine codes don't really matter anymore - the predator will ready ANY e38 ecm now, which is what you have in your truck...

Been hanging out over at the "GM Trucks Forum", and talking with MonteSS about the DS for my "M code" engine.

Just wanted to come back here and thank MonteSS and the folks at Diablo Sport for the awesome customer service! I see you guys even updated the web page apps chart to show the "M" code ...nice!

Now ...quit pissin about and get us some TCM support! :punisher:
